What are your thoughts on receiving the tdap shot during pregnancy??

It’s important to get it

It is unnecessary as they aren’t sure it goes to the baby, and it says on the vaccine insert that it has not been tested on pregnant women. I know people who were having perfectly healthy low risk pregnancies got the tdap vaccine and then lost their baby.

@sabarca42813 its supposed to help the baby not get whopping cough, they say it helps protect the baby, till they can get shot..at my last apt my dr brought it up and she also said that any1 that comes in contact with the baby should get a shot. She said there is a rise in cases on the weat coast..

@chelseymamma, but im also hearing hat its a class c drug which isnt safe for pregnant women. Its can cause the babies heart to stop beating or spontaneous abortion.

@chelseymamma, my dr told me the same thing but then i see everyone saying drs get bonuses when the get us to get vaccines. Out of all four of the obgyn ive ever had shes the only one to push this shot

@chelseymamma, thats wat im doing. I dont want to risk my last babys life for something im unsure of. Ive had my share of bad luck already and if theres a way i can prevent it im going to try. Someone told me theres a whole documentary about the shot

@sabarca42813, you’re one smart mama! Do your research and I’m sure you won’t get it. I was uninformed my first pregnancy but I won’t ever get vaccines while pregnant again.

I wouldn’t get any vaccines while pregnant. Just cause you don’t really know ALL the risks. They should have the insert on the CDC website.

Oh and you haven’t already received it? The Tdap is good for like 10 yrs.

@eryka616, im scared as heck!! Vaccinated both my boys cuz i wasnt informed but when my daughter was born i started reading now im really scared. Now they r trying to get me vaccinated?!

@mommytonicolas, yeah i figured its scary that knowing their r risks our obgyns r pushing it. And my obgyn is a female! This is crazy and scary

@mommytonicolas, i think ive gotten it before. I think i got it after my first son was born for pertussis and that was almost 5 years ago.

@beauty.n.scars16, omg! That is scary! My first two labors were really bad. But those were things that were out of my control. If this shot has that risk of having my babys heart stop or having me have a spontaneous abortion then theres no way in hell i want it. I just cant believe how convincing my dr is and shes a female!

@beauty.n.scars16, im going to have to. Im just to nice sometimes. I hate that about myself. Like i know they r gna make me feel like a bad mom if i dont want it. But i gotta remember the risk of loosing my son. Im taking my mom as back up to make sure they dont convince me

@sabarca42813 I really dislike pushy Dr/Np/PA. Especially cause I’m in the medical field and see that patients don’t speak up. But I confirm before giving any injections especially with the person I’m assigned to.

Do you have records of getting it? Maybe if you show her she’ll back down.

@mommytonicolas, i think i might have it but im not sure. Shouldnt it be in my records tho?? She should be able to see my history since it wasnt so long ago. Ur in the medical field?? Wats ur views or opinion on these vaccines for toddlers?? Thats another issue im dealing with at the moment

@sabarca42813 Did you get it in the same office? If yes she should see it. Some providers can be a bit careless and miss important info just double check. Is she using paper charting? Things can get lost in those files lol.

I’m a medical assistant. My knowledge isn’t much but you know I get by.

Because I’m in the medical field I vaccinate and come across tons of diseases and infections and would hate to take something home but no flu and no hpv vaccine will be given.

@beauty.n.scars16, i mean shes nice i like her. Granted ive only seen her about 2 or 3 times. I had the whole issue with finding a dr for the whole first part of my pregnancy

@mommytonicolas, no its a different dr but its the same like hospital staff. Im trying to stick with st joseph staff cuz my past with other hospitals. It seems like they have computers and updated stuff when i go. Like ive said in an earlier comment i only have seen her about 3 times now.

@sabarca42813 Was the same Dr in the same building? Can you have them release your records to the new office? Cause where I work we have 9 offices and share the system but there are other offices in Cali that have their own system and info doesn’t transfer.

@mommytonicolas, no they r different offices. The only reason i have different drs is cuz my last two moved up to higher offices in a different city but they r in the same network?? Idk if that matters

@sabarca42813 They may not share info. Maybe you can have the new office fax a release of records so the new office has them.

@beauty.n.scars16, om 😭 im so sorry :( ive only had 1 miscarriage. I was 12 weeks when it happened. I guess i didnt need the d&c cuz my body got rid of everything on its own. I still blame myself cuz i dont know wat i did wrong. Ur a strong mama

@beauty.n.scars16, i can imagine! He must be so happy to have a sibling! And i still till this day wonder why?? Cuz it was my 3rd pregnancy and it just happened outta no where. Dr at the er said it looked like the baby didnt have the right amount of hormones a baby should have at 12 weeks so i guess it was small. It still eats at me tho. I find myself wondering wat the sex was and stuff like that. But damn, ur amazing haha ur such a strong mama thats all i gotta say

Yes the Tdap normally is only needed as a booster every 7-10 years. However, each pregnancy it is recommended that it be given to give a little immunity to whooping cough (pertussis) to the baby since it can be deadly if contracted. I got it and my only complaint was a sore arm.
