So I have a lot of people tell me that my daughter is super smart for her age, as far as how she talks and the way she just naturally knows things and catches onto things so easily. The thing is, she has been talking in full sentences for a while now, she can count to 10 and knows probably 6-8 colors, but I cannot seem to interest her in learning her letter or sitting down to learn anything for that matter. The more I try, the more frustrated she gets. Therefore I have stopped pushing her. Did anyone else go through this? My daughter is extremely smart, but only because she picks up what she wants to, not everything I teach her. I’m super proud of her and I’m not posting this out of frustration, because I know every toddler learns at their own pace. Just wondering if anyone had a child who was smart but didn’t care to sit and learn? Lol.

My daughter is smart too. But I can't get her to learn her letters either. She just turned 3.

I'm with ya! My daughter is the same way! She is very bright, can count to the double digits, she knows maybe 5 colors well, everyday objects, and can form sentences very well. It kind of upsets me that probably 90% of everything she's learned she picked up, like as far as us talking to her or her watching learning videos she's gone to herself on her tablet. But if I try to sit down with her and teach her something she's easily distracted or bored and not interested 🤷🏾♀️

My oldest is very smart! Knows his colors, abc’s, numbers, shapes and can name just about every dinosaur lol and he can take things apart and build it back like it’s nothing! But I can’t get him to set still to learn stuff for the life of me, most everything he’s learned he’s learned on his own.. and that makes me very proud 😊

@myblessings, my daughter even says “I watch watch ABC’s” because she loves watching video’s to do with learning, but she seems to be so uninterested in what I try to teach her. Guess us moms just aren’t as exciting as the videos 🤷🏼♀️

@mommy_x3, yes I am so proud that she learns things the way she wants, and when she wants. That just means by the time she’s ready, it will stick with her and she’ll have it down pat! Just hard that I seem so uninteresting for her sometimes. I know it’s normal though. They have minds of their own, that’s for sure. ❤️

@uncouth, repetition is good with her on some things, like her colors and numbers. Shapes and Letters are just kinda “ehh” for her still lol. She asks to watch the ABC’s, so most of the shows she watches are beneficial and educational. I know she’ll pick it up when she’s ready.

@lynleesmom115 Right, I can tell my daughter loves learning. Just not from her parents lol. But at least she's capable. It just makes me feel bad when she's says a word I had no idea she knew because she learned it in her own.

@lynleesmom115, very normal! I’m glad my son likes to learn, but it is hard sometimes wanting to teach them and they’re like nope I can do it on my own 😂
