@jadasweet0218, here you go. So when should you pump and dump? You might want to if you’ll be away from baby during one or more feeding times, and there’s no practical way to carry your milk along. (Your milk is good for six to 10 hours at room temperature assuming the temp is less than 80 degrees F, so this is seldom an issue.) Or, if you have reason to believe there is temporarily something in your milk that is harmful to baby (like alcohol or other drugs) you may need to pump and dump at feeding times (and feed baby previously pumped breast milk instead) until enough time has passed for the substance to be out of your system. In most cases — like with alcohol — you aren't pumping to remove the “bad” milk. You're pumping to maintain your supply and prevent engorgement while you wait for the bad stuff to leave your body.
@mommytobabya_17, here you go, since you don’t really care to explain. Even though I said “correct me if I’m wrong” which it kind of looks like I’m not.
@scx , no. don't take it the wrong way. it was funny because my sister went away and practically " Pump and dump all her milk , not knowing she could have stored it for six to 10 hours. And I remembered my sister was told the same as you in another ocassion.. that if she was ok to drive, she's okay to feed her baby.
@mommytobabya_17, I apologize for my attitude then, I was just kind of confused I thought you were laughing cause you thought it was stupid lol I’m sorry
You hardly ever pump and dump. Alcohol is not a reason to dump your milk, its safe to feed baby.
Certain medications like high potent narcotics you wouldn't want to breastfeed with but you shouldn't be taking anything crAzy while breastfeeding. Pump and dump is a very outdated and stupid practice.

You pump your milk and dump it out
-_-·
You really don’t have to pump and dump if you’re drinking; only if you’re completely wasted then you should.
-_-·
Someone correct me if I’m wrong lol I was taught by a LC that if I was okay to drive then I’m okay to breastfeed
