How young is too young to start a child with an instrument? I'm sure it partly depends on the child/instrument, but a general, ballpark figure? My son adores music, making music (with "play" instruments), has a knack for identifying instruments in a song, keeping rhythm, etc., but not great motor skills (age typical, but... not suited for music-making). Is 4 a good age to start something more formal?
