So mamas that have checked their cervix for dilatation. How did you? Was it uncomfortable? Ive done a lot of research but curious about y'all's opinions. My dr hasn't checked me yet and will only check me once so the labor and delivery nurses have a base line to go by if I go in to labor and i kinda wanna check and see if I am dilating.
@kmason17 wow. With my daughter he checked at my 37 week appt I wasn't dilated at all. At 38 weeks 5 days I got sent home from l &d at a two. Few hours later my water broke.
@maesmommy04 yeah that hella weird because at 35 week my dr checked every appointment good thing she because at 35 I was 1 and half centimeters dilated at 36 I was 3 centimeters dilated and at 37 I was 4 centimeters dilated appointment was on a Tuesday my water broke on thursday when I got to the hospital I was 8 centimeters dilated with no pain
@kmason17 I probably won't cause I'm scared to. But my next appointment is the nineteenth but I don't know if he will check. He only does it once during the pregnancy and as late as he can. He's been delivering babies since before I was born so he does things weird.
@maesmommy04 yes it could be you dilating I wouldnt check myself just to be on the safe side...when is your next appointment ?
I gotcha Momma! No worries, good luck and stay safe!
@tavi.young oh I'm definitely gonna make sure things are clean if I do. Thanks! I'm just curious because of how often I cramp and how bad it is. I know it's not "baby is coming" painful but it's definitely not Braxton Hicks.
@kmason17 so all this cramping I've been having (which at times is very painful ) could be dilating me? With my daughter I didn't dilate until my water broke so I'm not sure about all this
So not hating at all, just stating that it isn't the most advisable. Biggest reason why not to is risk of infection/it's hard to get the angle you need yourself. If you decide you still want to, make sure to keep everything really sterile and clean. Good luck!
I had contraction a week before my 35 week appointment just felt like period cramping but felt like that would take my breath not that painful for me... my sister tried to tell me they were braxton hicks but when I went to my 35 week appointment I was 1 and a half centimeters dilated
anybody have anyways to get labor started? I have gone into labor 3 times but my doctor said today that I'm 2cm dilated and that he will let me go next time. I just want my water to break already! anybody have any ideas?
How do you know if you are dilated? Does your water have to break so you can be dilated? I'm 38 weeks and I still don't feel labor stuff lol
I have an appt to check my baby's growth and check my cervix today. I'm at risk for preterm labor and was wondering when they check my cervix through ultrasound if they can see if I'm dilated or anything like that?
I’m getting induced Thursday morning if I don’t go into labor by then. Got checked today and I’m 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I hope the baby will be ok since I’m just 37 weeks.

!!!!LABOR STORY!!!!
Saturday at 1AM, lost my mucus plug/bloody show, and I was freaking out! A couple of hours later I had cramping, but felt like BH just a little stronger. They came and went, but felt stronger with each hour. Didn't sleep that whole night! I called the midwife at my hospital and told her I lost it and was having really bad cramping and she told me I was fine and was prob just having BH contractions.
The next day I was having what I thought were strong BH contractions every 10-...
@maesmommy04 that's crazy
