My oldest had one and gave it up pretty easy until I got pregnant again when she was 2 but very quickly gave it up again. My 2nd never liked them and my 3rd only likes it when very tired . to each its own just do baby steps when trying to ween them off of it
Some babies don't even take them. I tried so hard. I bought so many different ones because I was so scared of her sucking her thumb but she doesn't use any pacifiers and doesn't suck her thumb. So it's really just about what your baby prefers.
@paigetaylor_95 My lo has hasn't really liked his pacifiers since day 1. I try to give it to him to soothe him but he just spits it out. You never know, maybe yours won't take to one. My lo is completely fine without one.
My son hates them. And he doesn’t even suck his thumb or anything. My take is, if you can, just go without. But other parents do say that it is easier to get rid of the pacifier than a thumb, it’s not like you can do anything about something that is within access 24/7 LOL. And again just keep in mind some kids don’t care for it. So if you notice that your baby isn’t sucking on their hand or any of their fingers to sooth them self then chances are you won’t need a pacifier or need to worry about thumb sucking. Again this is just from my experience thus far hopefully that doesn’t change on me LOL. Good luck!
I saw a little girl was about six years old sitting on her dad’s lap sucking a pacifier when I was waiting at the hospital with my baby. It was then I knew I made the right choice LOL
@paigetaylor_95, it helped sooth my soon till about 5 n a halve months I took it away from him n gave him a teddy bear it was hard for a week but so worth it now I just put him in his crib n he goes to sleep on his own
@toshagager, oh okay, I don’t criticize moms who use them on their babies over a certain age, honestly if they wanna keep using it when their child is at whatever age all the power to ya! There is no reason for me to add my two cents and try to overpower your parenting skills with YOUR children
Whatever works best for your child
@paigetaylor_95 a girl I knew uses them and her kids is over 1 still with it and she will steal her sisters but her mom isn't trying to get her away from it
@beerus, ya I was looking into the orthodontic ones!
But I definitely agree, I’ve never used them personally but I have friends who have and their babies were just fine. I just wanted to get other moms’ outlook on them
@maddoxsmama, I agree! Thanks girl
I just didn’t want to use it if it interfered with teeth growth or not I heard some stories about pacifiers and babies when they’re growing teeth 🤷🏽♀️ probably a myth though, can’t believe everything you hear
None of my kids would take a pacifier and I'm happy they wouldn't and only my 1st baby sucked his thumb and that lasted only a month I see kids that are 3 or so with pacifiers and I'm like come on people don't u feel embarrassed
