I’ve had the Makena injections my last two pregnancies.

Went into preterm labor with my last at 26 and 28 weeks.. started injections at 27 weeks. Was also put on bed rest and she came on her scheduled c section date at 39 weeks and 1 day.

This pregnancy I’ve gotten them since 15 weeks.. started having preterm labor at 16 weeks got put in moderate bed rest and just last week at 31 weeks started having issues again and now am on strict bed rest.. and scheduled to have him at 36 weeks and 6 days due to having cholestasis.

Just praying he makes it until then.

Trust me I know it’s hard girl... this pregnancy is my 3rd and has been absolute hell since before I even knew I was pregnant..

I don’t think any day of this pregnancy has been easy...

From the nausea and throwing up before I even found out I was pregnant to about 16 weeks.. weekly injections and blood work starting at 15 weeks to help preterm labor .. then the preterm labor issues actually starting at 16 weeks.. supposed to be on bed rest since then (yeah right with 3 other kids)to having heart issues starting at 19 weeks.. to being diagnosed with cholestasis at 21 weeks.. to this sassy baby not wanting to cooperate during our weekly non stress tests and now having to have weekly biophysical profile tests.. to these horrific raging hormones..

This pregnancy has been everything except for easy.. but I would do it over and over again if that kept in in a healthy and growing.

Don’t regret the shots.. they are a god send and help keep our babies growing and healthy. It’s worth it.

Early i would have kept getting the shots till 36 weeks but he didn’t . I’m so regretting getting them 😅 just praying this child is out by like 39 weeks & i don’t have problems dilating

@walkers-mom yeah, I was about to say that. Like, why they wanted you to get the shots anyways. I think it was money motivated for the docs. Idk that's how I see it. With my daughter she was 3lbs 11oz and she stayed in the NICU for a tad bit over 2 months

@walkers-mom almost 37 weeks, that's not even bad. 2 more days and he would've been considered full term.

@bbylopez, stop them 3 weeks ago and still nothing 😐 but my son didn’t come that early. He came at 36 weeks & 5 days

@walkers-mom yeah, I hear you. I personally wonder how it is when you stop the shots. I'm worried about going into labor as soon as I stop them

I started the weekly butt shots at 16 and my last one is at 36 weeks. I got put in them because my daughter was born when I was only 27 weeks pregnant. No side effects with the shots. They just hurt when I get them and my butt cheek ends up sore.

@claudia0786, no i don’t have any side effects I’m just worried that it’s gonna make me go over due or have to be induced .. i stopped it at 33 weeks

I did. I didn’t get any side effects tho. Are you getting it now?

@kaylalogan95, they didn’t hurt too bad i got used to them. I’m just hoping cause i got them they don’t make me go over due.

I had to use the progesterone capsules I hate needles and heard it hurts bad so I chose the capsules

@walkers-mom May be moderate exercises at home? Download workout trainer on your phone it has mild exercises got preggo women

@motherof3nigerianprincesses It was good I didn't have any issues. I was glad to make it to 39 weeks. My oldest living he was a 25 weeker so it felt nice to be able to go home with my daughter instead of leaving her in the nicu.

@walkers-mom starting the 26th my husband will be getting lucky every night he has no say in this. I'm going to tell him it's for research and that it'll be the last time we'll be able to be alone 😂😂

@bamber, i only had my son 2 days before i hit 37 weeks so that’s why i stopped mine early. I prolly didn’t even have to get them in the first place honestly my dr just recommend it

@walkers-mom oh gosh, I hope he comes on his due date or before. Idk if it's true or not but my friend got a ball and would bounce and do excersises on it, she said she thought it helped her. Also sex, I guess sperm has a hormone in it that causes the cervix to dilate and contract. (My midwife told me that bc I had to go on pelvic rest due to bleeding and contractions)

@motherof3nigerianprincesses yeah, I started sleeping with a pad once I started them at 16 weeks. I still do edven tho I stopped them bc of discharge. I've already lost my mucus plug.

@cr131418, yeah my son was 3 weeks early & 6 lbs 11 oz. this one is measuring 6 lbs 6 oz! I’m Small. I’m not trying to push out a huge child that’s another reason I’m praying he comes soon

@cr131418 the pills have kept me closed the whole time. Only thing i don't like is the kinda leak and the discharge is nasty. I kept thinking i was losing my plug but it was the outside of the pill.

@walkers-mom yeah, I hope not. I think it was u before saying u had a big baby and he was early. Hopefully you don't esp if this baby is a big baby too. Fingers crossed you don't go over.

@mommyof3kiddos, as long as i don’t go over 40 weeks & have to be induced I’ll be ok!! Like with my first i didn’t have any contractions or Braxton Hicks till the day i had him & my labor went so fast & easy. I’m praying this shot doesn’t make it hard this time

It really depends on your body. Wih my daughter i had the progesterone pills vaginally and orally, cerclage and makena injections all up.to 36 weeks. No contractions not even Braxton hicks. Delivered her at 39 weeks...wih this pregnancy I only had cerclage and makena injections weekly and stopped everything at 36 weeks as well. I was admitted the same day of my removal due to contractions which were coming at 3-5 mins apart but then they slowed down after a day due to Dr stopping them since they wanted to me to reach at least 38 weeks. I've been constantly having cramping and tightening of stomach but I've remain the same cervix length.

@walkers-mom try dates and see if you like them. There's a lot of research on how they help. Also i saw this salad that is supposed to induce labor that has balsamic vinegar in it but that for when you're closer. Not sure about that ome but I like salads

@walkers-mom wow really? That's crazy. I've had that option since I was 28 weeks. But I usually opt out of it unless I been having more contractions than usual. Well hopefully the shots didn't mess with you. I don't know anyone personally that took them but I feel like the shots are stronger than the pills since you have to get approved for them and stuff as opposed to the pills.

@walkers-mom ohh, do they check you at all? I have the option to get checked at every appointment but I don't lol. Last time I got checked was 34weeks I think was 2cm and closed. Hoping baby stays til scheduled c-section.

I just finished the suppositories. My midwife had me end them at 36 weeks. Been having contractions still off and on. But no change in cervix.

@bamber, that’s why i stopped mine 3 weeks early at 33 weeks instead of 36. I know i have 3 weeks left till my due date but it’s just nerve wrecking i don’t want to go over due or be induced . Especially since my dr office makes you wait till your close to 42 weeks before they even induce you
