I hope this is helpful for anyone struggling with supply issues. Please avoid pumping for the first 6 weeks UNLESS a milk stash is absolutely needed. I don’t recommend lactation supplements. if nursing your newborn becomes painful, check to make sure baby is latched properly and no tongue or lip ties are present because that can sometimes make breastfeeding painful and difficult.
@girlmom. You don't have to change or diet or drink a lot of water. Breast milk is made from hormones and blood. Eat and drink normally. The most important thing about breastfeeding is supply and demand. Doesn't matter if you eat a whole cow and drink an ocean of water. If you don't move milk appropriately then your body won't produce it appropriately.
@bperrier, no, I do a lot of studying and research of my own because I wasn’t ever helped by an LC when I left the hospital after having my daughter. :)
