Any mammas out there with experience with infant torticollis? My little girl was diagnosed with this and has started going to physical therapy... And is already showing improvement.. but her muscle strength was really low in her eval. The physical therapist is very optimistic.. but I can't stop worrying and feel terrible that we didn't catch it sooner. She was a vacuum baby, and apparently torticollis is very common with that kind of birth.. but no one ever mentioned that her "tramatic birth" as the hospital called it, could come with all these health risks. Our pediatrician didn't even think of it as a concern, which the more I think about it the more frustrated I get.. especially since at our 2 month we brought up our concern that she seemed to favor her right side so much.. and at her 4 month she didn't bring it up, we had to again at the end of her appt.
@brynsmommie thank you! From my research I've done online.. it sounds like at most she'd go to therpay until close to 12 months. We will probably do the helmet as soon as possible so she won't have to wear it too long. Do they know what caused it @makbreighann and @brynsmommie ?
She did.. and it's already straightening out, which surprised the therapist. Apparently her overusing the one side was pulling the muscles or something creating a curve when she sat and laid down. Her neck and trunk muscles are weak, so we are working on strengthening those while stretching her side of her neck that is tight. It's a little overwhelming all the excercises and stretches.. but we have been trying hard to make sure we do them all everyday
He just now got cleared of his torticollis at his last therapy appt which was about a week ago. So he was almost 7 months so that was 5 months in therapy (he took a little longer than usual to see progress). We honestly didn’t religiously do the home stretches (mainly because he hated them and his wasn’t that severe) but they are very important to do so i highly highly highly recommend doing those especially starting a little late.. and really? A curve in her spine?? I would be concerned about that as well. Did they say therapy would help with that?
My best friends daughter had it....she got a helmet when she was 6 months and wore it till 9 months and now she’s a happy healthy 2 year old! Sounds like my friends daughter may have had it worse. If the physical therapist shows you exercises to do just do them as much as you can and try to always make sure her head is not on the flat spot try to turn it to the other side when she’s sleeping!
@makbreighann how long until his torticollis was resolved? The therapist was worried she was starting so late.. but after seeing her thankfully felt better.. I guess the sooner they start therapy the easier it is to correct. She may need a helmet too.. only has slight flattening on the side, but she's developed a curve in her spine which is our biggest concern from it
My son had this when he was born! He started developing a flat spot at 2 weeks old but didn’t start physical therapy until 2 months old.... he is 7 months old now and is still in therapy but his torticollis has resolved. He is still in therapy because he had to get a helmet to correct his flat spot and they like them to stay in therapy while in the helmet! Don’t feel bad, we honestly wouldn’t have caught it at all if his doctor didn’t notice it. I never even knew it was a thing until we experienced it my son... so trust me it will be okay and the therapy helps a lot just make sure to do the stretches at home too!! 😊
need suggestions....
So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
My world stopped
I was changing the laundry over and my husband went to use the restroom. Our 20 month was in the room with our 10 year old and climbed up on the bed and fell, face first, landing on her head. Our bed is three feet off the ground and our son said she was standing up, so roughly a five foot fall. I ran into the room and she was unresponsive. She didn't take her first breath for 45 seconds. Her eyes were rolled in the back of her head and her entire body was limp. I lost it. I was...
So this morning my fiancé and me went to my folks for Christmas. On our way there we had to stop at his ex fiancé house to drop off an ornament we found of hers when we were setting up our tree. I was upset because I really didn't want to see her especially on our first Christmas being engaged and our daughters first Christmas because she has been mean about me in the past. Now I come to find out that she has been asking him about our daughter and stuff like that. Do I have a right to be upset o...

My sweet baby girl gained her angel wings this morning. She was my best friend, my true love my everything. She was so happy and beautiful, I'm struggling to say good bye. Sleep tight princess, mummy and daddy love you very very much ❤️
A little freaked out!! The girl I work with told me and our other coworker that she gets mrsa 3 times a year. Not only that but every day she picks at her face until it literally bleeds and then she has blood on her hands, doesn't wash them and then touches everything!!! Idk what to do. Do I tell my Dr and see what she says/thinks? Im just very concerned for me and my baby's health!!
@ashley551, i would definitely do the helmet asap too because like you said the earlier you start the better! They told me it is just caused by the positioning in the womb.
