My bf and I were talking to our NICU nurse last night because we are getting close to discharge and she told us not to let ANYONE over or touch her. She said bring her home and quarantine her until flu season is over. She works in a pediatricians office as well and said there were 35+ cases of the flu in the past week😐 Thank god she said that in front of him and now he can tell his family that it’s not safe and to all leave us the hell alone once she comes home. I know everyone is going to be hassling us. I don’t even want to tell them she’s being released

Idk if u have it or not but even after flu season I had germ x attached to my diaper bag and if anyone wanted to touch my son they had to go wash their hands and then use the germ x. You can also find a thing to attack to your baby's car seat that says do not touch n u can personalize it if u wanted to as well. Congrats on getting discharged!

Let them know you are going home. However, no visitors until after the flu season/and when you are ready.
We did this with our newborn. We have minimal visitors that we trust; and my mom helps me out and watches the girls when I work. We've only had besides my parents; my sister and kids and husband's aunt (lives upstairs) see her. Anyone else can wait. 😂
Today my husband is taking our oldest to lunch with his mom. I'm not enthused but we do once a month visits since they aren't on great terms. I'm staying home with the baby.

That is great the nurse is looking out. Babies are still developing their immune system. Did she say when flu season is officially over? I’m curious about this.
When my baby is born as long as there are no issues, we go home the same day. I don’t want anyone to see or touch the baby for at least a couple weeks. I will probably just have my parents over because my dad works from home and my mom is retired.
During my son’s birth, my mom came to visit me and came down with a horrible eye infection. They said the bacteria found in her eye was rare. It wasn’t normal conjunctivitis. Turns out she caught it from the hospital I delivered at. Even hospitals can be filthy with sick people touching doors, elevator buttons, etc. 😷
