Any advice on dealing with possible post partum depression? I'm not sure if that's what it is or if it's just normal stress from going back to work and trying to make ends meet and dealing with family not respecting boundaries.

@toshanicole As uncomfortable as it is @kristenmarie is right, those boundaries are crucial, if you wait too late or hold your tongue, that pent up stress will make itself known somehow. Maybe tell her in a gentle way how it makes you feel so that she doesn't feel disrespected or unappriciated.

I feel bad for saying things like that because my boyfriend was adopted and his mom raised foster kids. She is 85 years old. It's like she doesn't know how to be a grandmother all she knows how to be is a mom. I love her and don't want to be disrespectful. I appreciate everything she does as far as helping us just sometimes she goes overboard.

@toshanicole, you need to set them in their place. You are his only mom and you’re the only Mom he needs. Tell them that comments like that aren’t appreciated and they need to keep it to themselves.

Help isn't the problem. I have plenty of that. My problem is I feel like family is trying to take over. Like they are trying to replace me in my son's eyes. I am his mommy but they keep acting like and making comments about him having more than one mom.

Talk to someone, as hard as it can be to open up just talk. That’s the best thing you can do. Even if you’re frustrated and don’t know why, just open up. It can be with a significant other, family member, friend, of even a counselor. Also, when you get stressed out just take a step back and take in a deep breath and ground yourself and focus on your breathing. You can get so caught up in the moment, you can loose momentum. And don’t be afraid to ask for help. Being a new mom is very hard and so foreign. It’s not easy adjusting to this new lifestyle, if somebody wants to hold baby for a little while you shower or something then let it happen. Don’t forget you’re just as important as baby, so try to make time for self care. It’s incredibly important. You need to be the best you for baby😊
