I really wish mom's would research cereal before giving it to their babies. It's sooo bad for them! Only ones obviously…

Well you haven’t done much research if you’ve given your baby ANY type of baby food. There is literally zero nutritional value in it. NONE at all. Not even Gerber baby food.

@ecahanes good, keep preaching bout it then but add baby food to the list! I feel like no realizes that there isn’t anything but fats in it and not even good fats. I haven’t ever understand why people don’t just get a banana and smash it up? Or super small bites. So much cheaper and easier and REAL food.

@beemommyof3 well doctors highly recommend it for babies with extremely bad reflux.. that’s about the only time I’ve heard of it being “medically” needed.

@beemommyof3, they found babies urine to have the highest amount of arsenic from rice cereal! Is that not terrifying to think about?? Ugh hell no

But yes, I don’t agree with what I’ve heard some pedi’s suggest to parents. Like the cereal isn’t bad enough but the ones who say to put it in their bottle!? Like the heckkkkkkkkkk! Umm NO, you drink liquids and EAT food. 🙈

@candacelouise True that and Doctors need to test for reflux, reflux is very over diagnosed because of overfeeding of newborns. In most cases doctors don't test for reflux, it is assumed by symptoms and spit up isnt a symptom of reflux, it is a symptom of too much milk at once. If the baby has true reflux the recommendation should be formula with cereal in it which is a thickener for the baby among other interventions. First thing to do isnt to add cereal to the milk. So i would question the doctor if he hadn't done proper testing to that fact. They are very quick to put a child on unnecessary meds and cereal without finding out the true cause to the problem in my opinion.

@beemommyof3 I highly agree! Whether it’s over feeding, not burping in between enough... or ones that feed and put them in the car seat and their little ones cant handle being jostled that fast after feeds.

I do know my son was tested AND diagnosed, but his was minor compared to stories I’ve heard, so i just kinda dealt with the spit up and thankfully he out grew his at about 8 months. But some parents try anything to get the babies better. Reflux although it may sound minor is actually a very serious disease especially at a young age. Can ruin their esophagus very fast if they have sever enough reflux, and need surgery.

But I feel there are many other options before going to medications and cereal. I guess so moms either don’t feel that way or have tried everything and it’s their last resort.
