How often should I put coconut oil in my hair? I'm trying to make my hair healthier. It's so dry and is breaking off so easy and someone told me to put coconut oil in my hair and leave it til I wash it next and didn't tell me how often I should do this.

I first wash my hair, mix 1/2 water with 1/2 vinegar in a spray bottle or one of those bottles you use when you dye your hair, apply it at the scalp and some parts of your hair. Then rinse and condition your hair. It helps wash out gunk from your hair that the cleaning conditioner doesn’t-without damaging it the same way shampoo does.

@twinmomma2b, well it ain’t his choice 😂 my husband and I both had waist length hair, and before I cut it he pitched a fit, but then after he was like “oh. Cute”
He recently had to shave his hair all off as well.
If you do cut it, don’t dye it or use heat tools and you’ll grow it out just fine.

@fasciamom I might have to cut it 😣 my husband is gonna say hell no I know it.

@twinmomma2b, and apple cider vinegar does smell at first but doesn’t leave your hair smelling that bad, but it gives your hair some shine. Again, doesn’t do much to solve the problem unless you cut the problem out.

@twinmomma2b, yeah I know what it’s like to want long hair, after I cut my hair I HATED how it looked and just wore it in a bun with clips in the back for the loose hair, but to me it’s like what’s the point of long hair if it looks like shit or is breaking off anyway.
Like once I cut it, I never used heat tools on it except the day I got married, never dyed it til I got married, etc. now it’s long and it was worth it. For me I just decided to live with hating it for a few months when I knew I would love it when it grew out.

@t143 what does Apple cider do? And does it make your hair smell?

@fasciamom I've cut my hair soo many times in my life so far and it looks horrible on me. I want it long. It's alittle past half way down my back so far. I snip the dead ends off once in a while but I'm afraid to cut it now because everyone has seriously fucked my hair up. They've thinned it out when it didn't need to be. They've never done the style I wanted and when it was already done I looked like a damn boy and I still feel very bad about it now too I just don't want anyone touching my hair anymore. I wanted to cut about 2inches off but it's taken soo long to grow it this long

^Shes right. You may need a cut. I cut off length and stopped using hair products with sulfates and parabens, I use coconut oil in my hair hours before I wash it. I only wash it 2 a week. Once with a cleanser/shampoo and the other time with a clarifying conditioner and rinse with Apple Cider Vinegar.

If it’s that damaged, you’ll probably have to cut it and start all over again. You can’t really repair hair, only mask what’s wrong. Then after you cut it, every time I wash my hair (once or twice a week) while it’s still wet, I put coconut oil everywhere but the roots. Some people do their roots because it keeps their scalp moisturized but I don’t like the grease feeling on my scalp. When I was pregnant I cut my waist length hair very very short to start all over again. And I have no breakage or split ends, so it really does help.

I do it every 2 to 3 days. I put it in before bed, put a bag over my head, then rinse it in the morning with a little bit of shampoo
