So how did everyone know their child was on the spectrum? I think my 5 year old daughter is on the spectrum or something . I already tried talking to her pediatrician about it but she pretty much ignored me. Her pediatrician told me I goggled whatever fit . I have an appointment for the neurologist next month hopefully I’ll get answers, I’ve tried developmental pediatrician but the wait is 1-2 years or they don’t take her insurance . Her pediatrician didn’t listen to my concerns or read her iep from school. She flaps her hands all the time ,likes babies and adults doesn’t play with kids her age pretty much she’ll say hi then play alone . She can’t hold a conversation and doesn’t really comprehend usually what you tell her . She’s really behind in school but better then last year . 45 minute Meltdowns over wearing any kind of pants or leaving any place or leaving home. She won’t eat certain foods she doesn’t like how it feels she’ll use her hands instead of a fork. She’s in pt,ot and speech with school.

And your pedi won’t listen and get her into a specialist!? First off, I would find a new ped, ASAP! And second of all, I commend you and give you soooo many props for noticing this! Even if it’s nothing, most parents can’t see that something might be different about their child.
But I think getting a different ped that will listen to you and actually take the time to spend with your daughter to see if there are concerns to be had

Definitely get a new pediatrician. I had a similar problem with my daughter’s old pediatrician and I switched her. She kept ignoring my concerns. They sent her to see a specialist and they said she has Selective Mutism disorder. I’ve never heard of it prior to my daughter. But it’s everything she was experiencing. She still has anxiety where she shuts down but she has gotten better with my help, therapy, and the help of the school.

@candacelouise, thank you . She recommended I take my daughter to a psychologist because a lot of it seems a lot of it is in her head . There’s a lot of another things she does. Thank you we’ve notice some small things . Her teacher is awesome the last parent conference she gave us information on neurologist/ developmental pediatrician to help with her iep kindergarten placement for next year.
