How much should a almost 2 week old baby boy be drinking in breast milk?
My son has been drinking 4 to 5 oz of breast milk at once.
I'll give him a pumped bottle of milk about 2 to 3 oz depending. And then he whines/ tries to nurse until I give him more.
Help!!
Finally got him to sleep after 3 hours of wanting milk off and on.

@belleryan33 They want to suckle for comfort and that can not be done with a bottle. It can with breast

They will nurse back to back to back and that is normal. They are growing rapidly. But they dont always nurse for hunger. They can nurse because they want comfort. Let baby nurse and establish supply

5oz is way too much. Baby needs to be pacefed with a bottle

@belleryan33, okay, so when I say he’s establishing your supply I mean that his nursing all the time is telling your body to make more milk. Same with the extra pumping, it says to your body “hey, this baby needs more milk get to producing”
2-3 weeks there’s a growth spurt. Then one at about 3mo again. At about 5-6mo my daughter had figured out her routine for nursing and she wasn’t nursing as frantically either.

@santistevanmommie yeah. I pump during the day after feeding him. Then give him a bottle at night or when my fiance feeds him.

@belleryan33, I assume you’re pumping right maybe even doing some of both?

He’s going through a growth spurt, he’ll want to nurse more. He’s also still trying to establish your supply.
