So my upstairs neighbors had bed bugs before we moved in. Apparently the landlord knew about it & gave them some over the counter spray to get rid of them. So my daughter started to get bit but it didnt look like bed bug bites we took her to her pedatrician, dermatologist, & allergist trying figure out what was going on. No one else in the house was getting bit. I even I had an exterminator come out & look & he found nothing. But slowly we started seeing bed bugs in weird place like the bathroom. Then we left to becuz I had my son & he was sick & we stayed at the RMH most nights but when my bf return to work he started staying home & then he started getting bit while sleeping on the couch. He then looked at in the couch & found a lot so we throw the couch out. We called the landlord & he had another exterminator come out he found 1 bed bug in our house & found a lot in the upstairs neighbors house. The landlord paid for them to exterminate both apartment but said we have to pay him back for it. I honestly dont think we are responsible for it. He called my bf today asking when we paying for it & my bf talking about when he get his taxes he gone pay smfh I told him he souldnt have told him that.

Nope. You shouldn’t have to pay for it. It’s his fault and he should have reported it to begin with. Unless it says somewhere in your lease that you need to pay for it, I wouldn’t.

No that is the landlords responsibility. It's not uncommon for bed bugs to move from one apartment to another when exterminated. Also not uncommon for them to only bite one person

@janine724, if you can’t find yours, the landlord should have a copy. You can always request that as well.

No you aren't. We moved in and the apartment had roaches. Never had to pay, not even the exterminator could get rid of them. We ended up moving out

@janine724, yeah it was disturbing. We moved out before my first came home from the hospital into my parents house. Saved money for a few months and they helped us get another apartment since I was on leave for 6 months (our first was a preemie)
