could “old” formula make baby sick? I had a few cans of formula that was given to me because it was unused. I’m on the last can (I have more just talking about the cans given to me) and noticed how old it was. It doesn’t expire till May, but the cans before expire next month (already used them). I really only paid attention to them NOT being expired but then when I look at the container that was just bought a few days ago, it expires 1 year from now. So if I had almost 1 year old formula, could that make my son sick??? Could that be making him puke and have reflux like symptoms???
Talking about powdered formula btw.
I was using ready to eat formula from the hospital when he was born and he was mostly puking mucus which the dr said was pretty normal. And I had already switched to powder by the time he was puking”regularly”.

Dairy causes heavy mucous but spitting up is normal. Reflux is not spitting up, it is projectile vomiting, sometimes with blood or bile.

@beemommyof3, 1) I stated that the cans expire next month and current can expires in may. 2) I was told the mucus of the puke was just whatever he swallowed while inside me. 3) he doesn’t projectile. His dr diagnosed him though. No blood or bile. Just spits up everything he eats.

If he is simply spitting up that isnt reflux. All babies spit up. I would get a second opinion. I was initially thrown off by the fact that you called it old milk but it isnt expired. Kinda confused me as to why you thought it was old.

@beemommyof3, 1) it’s not just spit up. He’s puking everything he eats. It’s just not projectile. 2) I put old in quotes for a reason. I’m simply asking if ALMOST expired formula would make baby sick. Like I said, the cans I went through were to expire next month. But seeing as how the new container doesn’t expire for a full year, I was curious. The formula has been sitting for almost a year. Unopened. It’s old...but not expired.

If it's not expired it's still good, maybe baby just doesn't like the taste of it.
