Any suggestions on pumping for a preme? Everyone says I'm doing fine but I'm on day 7 and still stuck at 10ml almost every time. Im pumping every 2 hrs, 3 to 4 in the night. My peak is usually like 6am. Im massaging, smelling my baby, listening to cries, drinking water....idk what else to do. I wana give up and sleep instead but I'm not going to, I'm determined to suceed. If I'm on the right track and this is normal I'll take the reassurance but I feel like I'm lagging behind and failing. My stress levels dont help any but I can't change that too much. I'm trying so hard to be strong for my baby😓

My first was a preemie and second low birth weight for 39 weeks. Anyways, you are on the right track. Talk to the lactation consultant. I almost gave up because my milk didn't come in at the hospital. The consultant we had; was our birthing instructor for our first. When she saw us she remembered who we were and a sign of comfort for me. I kept trying. Came in on day day 6. Little babies sometimes means little milk in the beginning. Don't be discouraged. I'm still under an ounce per a feeding but I supplement with formula. Just keep being consistent. In the NICU you have the option of donors breast milk to supplement with as well.

Have you talked to a lactation consultant? It sounds like you’re on the right track. Don’t give up! Your supply should slowly increase.

The goal for a preemie is getting at least 3 to 4 ounces per session during the 8 to 10 pumping sessions a day.

Try looking at a picture of your baby while you’re pumping. That always helped me. Also try a warm compress just before you pump.
