My son was given amoxicillin for his ear infection, he's only had a chance to take one dose since we picked the prescription up last night its 15mls 3x daily hes 8yrs old and 92lbs ... Well he's been sleep walking/talking all night with body twitching and screaming in fear almost. He woke up or so i thought he did and said His eyes burned they are very very very blood shot red like I've never seen someone's eyes this irritated... He Has a very light rash across his upper torso and face, no swelling or fever.. He's had this medicine a long time ago with no issues but now im not sure what to do. Can the amoxicillin be causing this? Do i take him to the Dr during regular business hours or take Him to the emergency room?

@km416 the good thing is that my son gets along with drs and all medicines he's ever had to take lol it makes this experience easier to desk with. My other 2 kids will throw there meds up lol .. Hopefully he's not allergic to every cillin like i am though it makes it hard when you Need medicine

@zachattackmomma @queenmee @km416 alright ladies i took my son back to the emergency department today and they said that sometimes on rare occasions an allergic reaction to amoxicillin can cause hallucinations, night terrors, sleep walking etc... Along with the rash.. So they said he no longer can have amoxicillin which up until now he was able to take. But what the dr ( different dr from prior visit) at the er told me next made me upset, she checked my son over and said his ears were fine, and that he didn't even need antibiotics in the first place that he just had a minor cold stuffy nose, sore throat etc.and that the amount they prescribed him too take was more for a child who would have a severe double ear infection, they had him taking 15mls of amoxicillin for nothing!!. I swear my poor son went through hell and i got zero sleep because they had him taking a medicine he didn't even need.. But tonight thus far has gone smoothly besides the low grade fever.

@queenmee yea i left a message for him. He doesn't return calls over the weekend and i might end up taking him to the ER again. I stopped the meds he's awake now for the day he has a low grade fever but said he doesn't feel itchy which is good i think.

if you feel your son is developing an allergic reaction to his meds, you should call his doc ASAP!

I remember my daughter had a rash also and her doctor said it wasn’t anything harmful. But keep an eye on it Incase it gets worse

Not sure if you can see the redness on him or not.. The spots behind his war are purple and red.. My allergic reaction to Cillins are a way different rash than that and my throat closes up but hes been breathing his all night. He did scare the day lights out of me though when i leaned in to check on him he roomed over art the same time and it scared him and he sat up and screamed bloody murder and so did i.. He still seemed like he was sleeping through that though which is odd

@zachattackmomma im trying not to freak out just because he's breathing fine and there's no swelling, and its 4am, and the other side of me wants to take him in but knowing the er drs they will just say he's fine and that the medicine has nothing to do with the sleep issues tonight.. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this before?

@zachattackmomma yes, but he's been taking amoxicillin and penicillin all his life (he's 8) never had as issue with it but he's never had to take 15mls asst once 3xs daily though, at most it would be like 7.5ml 2x daily. And its been about a year since he's had any cillins in his system

@1family1, did you tell the doctor that both you and your daughter are allergic to that medicine?

@beemommyof3. Yea im really allergic to all cillins so is my daughter. He's had 2 sets of tubes placed in his ears and has always had to be put on antibiotics and had never had an issue. Until last night.. I've been up all night keeping him outta of my other Kids rooms and he keeps screaming and he is sweating alot. No fever though. And he hasn't really actually woken up yet just sleep walking/talking

Amoxicillin can cause an allergic reaction but it depends.

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

My son just turned 4 months and he eats a lot like 5 ounces every 2 - 3 hours is that bad ? Should I start introducing him to cereal ? He's on enfamil formula maybe mixing cereal in his milk will keep his tummy full for a longer time ? I don't want to be over feeding him , he also spits up a lot & sometimes I have a really hard time getting his gases out he randomly gets these tantrums out of nowhere because he has trapped gas & the only way he calms down is if I pick him up and walk around the house or rock him I've been giving him gas drops that the doctor prescribed but I don't think it's helping much I don't know what else to do he's really good all day & than at night he acts up and wakes up in the middle of the night too many times crying cause he's in pain , help me ladies 😳🤔🙄😑😫

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Hey! So before I freak out and call his pediatrician, I'm going to take this to you guys first bc I know I'm overreacting. So Brian isn't sleeping well, and he's super fussy. He's been up every hour since last night, and when he is in his bed he fusses and doesn't sleep well before waking up crying. He will drink half his normal bottle, then fall asleep in my arms. Then as soon as I put him in his bed he can't get comfortable and sleep again. Until last night he was sleeping 3-5 hours at a time comfortably (he even slept 7 hours two nights ago). I have tried burping him. Massaging him. Swaddling him tight. Making sure he wasn't too warm. Or too cold. I've never given him medicine. I have gripe water and Tylenol. He is 7 weeks old. What do you think could be causing this, and what do you think I can do to help him?
