Do any of you have children with autism? Just curious what kind of symptoms/behaviour they had and at what age were they diagnosed? My little boy is only 17 months but he seems so far behind others his age and even kids much younger than him. He does a few weird things that made me think something was up and after doing an online search (I know it’s the worst thing to do) he does seem to do a lot of the symptoms listed. How do you go about getting them diagnosed/tested? Do you speak to your health visitor or gp? Maybe I’m being completely paranoid but I would hate to ignore this and then there be an issue in a few years time x
@sophie_30 aww really. Mention it to the health visitor and see what they say, sometimes babies are just late developers so i wouldn't worry xx
Oliver isn’t walking yet and still seems a way off, I’ll definitely have a chat to docs/health visitors this week. Thankyou all 😘x
@sophie_30, tbh I didn’t know what autism was, I basically said that Ava is developing really slow, she didn’t start crawling till 1 and a half, didn’t start walking till 2, she wasn’t talking and can’t socialise very well, the health visitor mentioned autism x
Did they listen to you when you mentioned it to the health visitor? I’m worried they are just going to make out I’m being stupid you know what they’re like 😬 @sarahlucindagiddins x
My daughter has autism she got diagnosed at 3, but she was showing symptoms since from about 1, her health visitor referred her to get an assessment done x
Thankyou @abbyrose1997x, I’ve noticed it since he was around11/12 months and he is also is glued to the tv and happily plays on his own. X
My niece has autism and she was diagnosed at the age of about 3
We could tell because when she was about 6 months though, she was only ever interested in the tv and would never respond if we called her name as she got older she wouldn't play with other children, liked to be on her own, she was very very clever ahead of other children her age. We just knew. I think my sister took her to the gp x
Iv done an autism course as I look after children. Health professionals don’t really do anything until the child has around a year delay. Each child is different and the spectrum is so wide. Some keys things are sensitive to sounds/noise, lack of eye contact, lack of speech, understanding. There is an autism website that might be able to give you some advice ссылка there are some strategies on there that will be able to help. My advice is to try and few consistently and record them, as this will come in handy if a referral is ever made. Hope this helps. Try not to worry xx
