I need advice on getting my 5 month old to sleep on his own in his crib....he is not wanting to sleep by himself and will fall asleep with me holding him and then when I go to put him down he wakes up! And cries till I pick him up. I don’t like the cry it out method any other suggestions
Have you ever tried to play lullabies and/with a light noise? Try it when you put him to down..he may try to cry for a min or so but he will eventually fall asleep on his own.
My son was like that. But I started putting him in his crib for nap times first and now he’s sleeping there at night. I put him in and he’ll whine. I would let him whine for one minute then grab him. He would fall asleep again and I would set him down again and I’ll let him whine for 2 minuets and I’ll pick him up. I always did it until I let him whine for 5 min. I can never let him cry for hours. Its not in me to do that. But it was a great way to let him know that mommy is there and will pick him up that is okay to sleep in his bed. I did that everyday for about a week or 2 only for his naps. Eventually he stopped whining less and sleeping longer. Then I began putting him in at night. And now he sleeps there.

@hthomas0308, agreed. Sorry I was saying that in response to a different comment on the thread but my son just recently started to be okay with sleeping on his own. I can’t hear him cry for more than a couple minutes before I go in and bounce him or sing to him. I’ve never tried the glove thing but I’ve heard it helps!
@rachokai, right!? Lol my husband says he’s a con artist lol
@dbarton041, I agree...cry it out method isn’t for his age bracket...he IS way too young for that and it just makes me feel terrible too
@hthomas0308, that’s SO my daughter she’ll smile too! Lol they’re so funny
@rachokai, I will talk gently to him and do the same just put my hand on his chest or stomach to let him know I’m there and he still screams till I pick him up!! And once I pick him up he actually will smile at me!!!! I’m like wow!!! Lol
@hthomas0308, in my opinion, he’s too little to be crying it out. I swaddled mine until he was 5 months which helped. I’ve also heard of people filling gloves with beans and then putting it in the microwave for a couple seconds so the baby thinks a parent still has a hand on them when they’re in their crib. Just a thought ☺️
Sometimes when my daughter cries if I go in before she gets too upset and put my hand on her chest so she feels that I’m there and I make shushing noises she’ll fall back asleep! But there’s plenty of nights that I just pick her back up until she’s asleep too

@diegosmommy0213, I have tried but I refuse to let him cry for too long and he gets more and more upset and I just don’t like that

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Got home around 11... washed lil man up and made him a bottle... asked my husband to get off his phone and help me put him to sleep... as soon as I did, my husband sat on the couch and fell right to sleep with Zach in his arms... I walked over to him and picked Zach up and he has to nerve to jump awake talking about I scared him because he thought he dropped Zach... this is why I’ve stopped asking him to hold him... he is irresponsible... I ended up setting up Zach’s stand up floor lamp, rearran...
