My daughter had severe AR. We first changed her formula and then added a med.

I had both my girls on cereal around 3-4 weeks ain't nothing wrong with it long as you dont put too much in the bottle because their stomachs ain't but soo big at that age.

As someone who was told the same by my doctor, I tried it for about a day and a half when my son was two-three weeks old. Never have I regretted something so much. My son was terribly sick, projectile vomitting (not just spitting up), and couldn't even keep down pedialyte it got so bad. That's when I ended up talking to other moms and realizing my doctor told me to do something that was not safe. I do not recommend this at all! My son has been doing amazing on the Enfamil AR formula, and I highly suggest it. As for if you breastfeed, I'm unsure how to help with that. Just please consider anything but using cereal at such a young age!

Goodluck! I know it’s rough I’ve been there lol. But there are other ways! I just wish the doctor would have given you a legitimate solution and not this. Im a little floored by that. But it’s all good you got this!!!!

@heera, well I don’t mean to say “I did it and it turned out fine”. It was just one of those things I didn’t think twice about. Ya know? But I’ll definitely be researching tonight when I put my toddler to bed and have a few minutes.

Read my post from yesterday or so. The long one....every baby is different yes...just bcuz you turned out fine and your nephew is ok doesn’t mean other babies will be and it doesn’t change the fact that in reality it’s not safe. It’s really not. 6 months is the appropriate time. Pleaseee do your research. I promise you you’ll find a lot on it.

@kambam, @heera, thanks. I’ll definitely look into it. I never thought much of it cause I know my mom had to put ME on cereal at a month old and my nephew was put on it at 2 or 3 months.

They have formula with rice cereal in it if needed for reflux. I know a mom with a preemie that had to mix cereal in bottle with her breastmilk because the medicine was at the highest dose for the babies age. Her baby was about 4 or 5 months old

If it was me tho, if the doctor would have told me that, i would have been finding a new doctor. Cereal at that age....na...That doctor is crazy. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Do your research for his safety....bcuz everywhere you look is guna tell you no...babies can’t digest any kind of solid or cereal at that age. I wouldn’t risk that. We all care. I Promise no bashing here. But that cereal may cause more problems than you think.

Doctor sounds kind of lazy honestly, just giving out a "quick fix" instead of correctly solving the problem.

Medicine is ultimately safer than the cereal, I would definitely do the medicine first.

If you actually do your research that’s beyond dangerous...I’m only telling you for the well-being of the child. Thats way too young for that.

Personally I would go straight to the medicine.

My son was put on ranitidine twice a day for his reflux at 2 weeks old, our peditrican said he wanted to try medicine before even considering putting cereal in his bottle. The medicine works wonders. Try to talk to them about medicine for the acid reflux

Babies shouldn’t have cereal or any food until their 6 months old hunn. Only breastmilk or formula until then.

That's way too young, sorry. The doctor would prescribe medication before that
