I would use it to dry the knives and put them away or put the ones you use most and the rest in a drawer if it's not where kids can get hurt I don't see a problem

@babytj0214 I did the blade facing up and if the knife is too heavy just store it in the drawer. I would use ones that stay in place very well, we don't need kiddos accidentally getting hurt.
