But that’s what a security deposit is for, to cover any damages! It sucks that crappy people ruin it for others.

My aunt is trying to find an apartment in Tennessee and is running into the same problem. She has two big dogs, though, and one is still a puppy.

@nomli Yes, we're looking for places rented by individuals as well. Still no luck. I guess that's what happens when people don't care for their pets and/or train them. It sucks cause' our dog is old and just lies around all day. She doesn't damage property or even bark for that matter.

Our apartment near Princeton took pets, but they charged $350 upfront, then another $50-75 a month, per pet. On top of the already ridiculous rent. And we had really loud and inconsiderate neighbors too.

Have you tried looking for places being rented by actual individual people, not management companies? They tend to be more lenient with pets.

@karen.tepoz We actually used to live there! Lol. We've been looking... No luck though. Trying to stay under 1700 a month. We have a small dog, who barely even barks.. But these places don't want to hear of it. 😐
