Is anyone else in the stage where they’re kid likes to hit?? Today at the doctors my daughter smacked my face!! I grabbed her hand and said no! And she hit me with the other one!! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I have no clue what else to do! She’s with my mom on the days I work and I think that’s the problem! My s.o tells me not to raise my voice. All I can do is cry!! I feel like she doesn’t want to listen. She knows the word” NO” sometimes she’ll even look at me while doing something. As soon as I say no. She’ll do it! I don’t hit her so that’s not a option and I don’t spank her! At her age I don’t think that’ll teach her much. And she doesn’t witness people hitting others in my home. Advice anyone ??
@moriahn.kennedy, lol! I know tell me about it! There’s times she chuckles cause she thinks it’s funny 😂
How do you get onto your child with out cracking a smile sometimes. The way he looks at me 🙄 damnit.... I’ve got to work on that
@kasonsmama, yeah she is starting to hit everyone. And she’s being mean while doing it. I’m like wth!! No one is mean to her! No one yells at her. I’m hoping it’s just her age.
@moriahn.kennedy, it’s really nerve recking because they’re growing now. So it’s like the tantrums and hitting all in one. Like damnnnnn. Lol
@gallofamily.6, yeah I get that! But I’m just trying to exhaust all options before that. Hopefully she’ll get it with other tactics
Also... Time outs.. talk to her and tell her what she is doing wrong. She maybe be little but she will understand. All major development happens before 5 so start early to teach what right and wrong is. Pintrest always has some good mommy articles about it how to teach kids to behave correctly.
@moriahn.kennedy I understand what you're saying. Each parent has their own style. I've tried other ways and nothing worked. I found just taping his hand saying no works better for him. And the playpen works sometimes. For the longest time I just would put him down or walk away but as time went on he got worse. He still does it now just not as much as he did before.
In my experience spanking is the way to go or a pop on the hand because she isn't going to listen. My kids are extremely stubborn so it's one of few ways to get threw. I had to start popping my daughters hand at a 1. You could always teach gentle and what it is. How to do it because my daughter get all those if she hits she is spoiled so she thinks it's only her way.. she started hitting lately again but I think it's because she knows a big change is about to happen.
@kasonsmama, not that I have a problem with smacking hands I just feel like I’m telling my son not to hit yet I’m hitting his hand so I try to not do that. I’m going to try the time out and take toys. So we will see!
His older half brother stands in timeouts and my son is even learning to stand in the corner at times. Sometimes when he's being funny I make him stand there. He throws a huge fit but I don't want him thinking its fun.
@gigi.marquez1991 I personally smack my child's hand and tell him no he's real big into hitting. I also do timeouts . I put my son in a play pen. No way will he ever sit in a chair no matter how many times I put him there lol I know some don't agree with spanking or smacking hands but my child has learned some what. It's not a hard smack just a love tap and say no that's not nice . Eventually he stopped doing it as much. He even tries hitting the doctors and other people too.
@gigi.marquez1991 sticking with it and taking her favorite toys away and taking tv privileges away from her will work.
@danielswifey, I will try and see how it goes. Hopefully this helps. I want to try and teach her before she gets older.
@gigi.marquez1991 and start taking tv privileges away, if she hits you or someone else don't allow her to watch tv for a day or 2 and with any punishment explain why she is being punished.
@gigi.marquez1991 when she's bad put a chair in a corner facing the wall and put her there. If she gets up and starts crying which she will keep putting her back and turn the tv off so she can't even hear it.
@danielswifey, how do I start time out? Sorry FTM. And my parents never did time out. Lol tells you a lot huh 😂🤦🏻♀️
@gigi.marquez1991 that's how my son is too. I'm assuming it's the age but it also should be taught it's a no no at a young age. Hopefully it passes. And yes my son makes the funniest faces or just gives me that look and I can't help but smile and give in lol
