Why can't you apply for EI before your last day of work?

That's only after u quit work !! Its unemployment insurance rt

You can file for it 7 weeks before the birth of the baby

yes @mikaylanichol101 is right... I applied early and they said at 8 weeks before my due date i would start getting payments although i wasn't working for a while/just moved to new province... but you do need your ROE um.. doctors note helps too (just extra thing/they asked if i got one to stop working/didn't quit)

@courtneyxa you werent working for awhile though im still working so i cant apply until my last day of work

I live in Edmonton as well and you can apply for EI before you’re done work. You’ll need to indicate your last day of work and your employer should have submitted your ROE to revenue Canada. After applying, there’s about a 2 week waiting period (after your last day) before you can get paid.
