Calling a lawyer tomorrow to set up an appointment to see what steps we gotta take in order for me to adopt my stepson. He’s been living with us for the past 3 years because his biological mother “didn’t” want him. She has only seen him once in those 3 years. This kid doesn’t deserve what he has been thru. He has ADD, ADHD, OCD, ODD, and Asperger’s. He definitely needs a mom that cares about him regardless if it’s biological or step. And I’m willing to take on the responsibility. I’ve been in his life for 6 years.

I'm in the exact same situation but she won't give up rights...out of spite for my husband leaving her.....but does NOTHING for these boys...I've raised them for 6 years too. Same medical diagnoses minus Aspergers...she doesn't even have court custody....but has other children

I don’t know if it applies to all states but if she goes more than 6 months without contact then by law it’s considered abandonment and in that case you won’t need her consent.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
