Question ladies... how many of you got the epidural and how much did it work and how well and how many of you had a natural birth and how much did that hurt??
I got the epidural with my first 3 with no problems. I got the epidural with this last one and it failed. I felt everything. It clearly hurts terribly but it’s worth it.
The epidural was worse then Natural labor for me. I went natural even with pitocin the 2nd labor because I didn't want to get the epidural again 😂 hurt like hell but once babies out it's gone and forgotten 😊
Okay so, my plan was to go natural. My water broke but I wasn't feelin any contractions. The Doc scared me and said that I would catch an infection in that next 10 mins. So they gave me pitocin, which intensified the shit out of my contractions. I ended up getting the epi. While the needle was going in I caught a contraction 😫 the pookin didn't hurt but the medicine going down your back burned like a bitch! I didn't feel nothin within 10 mins. I was able to go to sleep for like 3 hrs. When I woke the epidural wore off and I felt everything when I pushed him out. No tears. Because it wore out and so early, my recovery was great. My plan for baby #2 is no epi. It just felt weird not being able to move my legs.
I had my son natural, but also had a fast labor/delivery. In my experience my contractions got intolerable about 10 minutes before my doctor said I could push (i actually asked for pain meds and she said if I wanted to go ahead and push instead I could), and I somehow managed to fall asleep between my contractions even when they were seconds apart. Once I started pushing the pain subsided ALOT! I did tear and had to have 5 stitches but I felt none of that. Recovery was really good as well, once I had baby cuddle time I was able to take a shower while his dad got some time with him. I was told by my Dr that if you choose the epidural it's not recommended that you get up and move around because it numbs your body and you have a fall risk and for me being able to move around and get in and out of the tub helped with labor.
One of my friends who has had 5 kids advice to me was: If things are going quickly and smoothly and you can handle the pain, go natural. If it's a long labor and you can't take it, get pain meds. And that was the best advice given to me.
I had my first natural. It was very painful but I was induced with pitocin which SUCKS. That's what made my contractions way too strong.
I was also induced with my 2nd one and was in extreme pain from the Pitocin again so I told them I wanted an epidural. It didn't work but the nurse didn't get my correct weight for the dosage and it may have come too late. Some hospitals won't give one after your dilated so far (at least back then lol) my son was 9 lbs and got stuck in the canal because his arm was over his head. The epidural didn't work but left me with stiff neck and migraines for 4 days.
Now my 3rd baby was perfect. lol I had a c section scheduled Because we thought she was 10 lbs but I went in labor early and it didn't even hurt. The contractions didn't. Just strong and uncomfortable. They gave me an epidural for the c section and it was just slightly weird and uncomfortable but no real pain and I hate needles too.
My point here is choose a good hospital and ask tons of questions before going. I had amazing dr's all 3 times but the first two were born at a small one floor hospital and the nurses weren't so great. Every experience is different. Don't let the fear of the unknown grip you. Epidurals can be great! Just have it on standby if you decide you need it. Take something to focus on too. Maybe an ultrasound picture. Wanting to see my baby made me do exactly what the dr told me to do to get it done quicker. lol

I got an epidural and felt no contractions up until about a few hours before I had to push. I dilated so quickly and the epi wore off so there wasn’t enough time to grab more medicine so I gave birth pretty much without any pain meds at all. It wasn’t very fun for me. But natural could be for you. But not for me. I want all the pain meds lol

I’ve had both, with the epidural it worked instantly but after the birth i was still numb all my left side for a few hours, a d the doctor had to cut me down there so my son can come out fine, and the recovery felt bad. With my daughter it was natural and it did hurt but the recovery was amazing i didn’t tear or anything.
I've had the epidural with all of mine and plan on getting it again! You don't feel the contractions, and you're able to rest once you get it. You feel a pinch and pressure from receiving it, but overall that small procedure is worth it. Also, although you don't feel the contractions you still have enough feeling to be able to push and feel baby come out. I suggest NOT pushing the medicine release button too much (unless necessary) because all that extra medicine made me throw up 😔 and sometimes (they'll tell you the side effects) the medicine may make you feel jittery or shaky or itchy.
Oh and when I have my next child it will be natural as well even if long again. Word of advise if you go natural do not tense up during contractions breathe through them. The nurse told me that it would make labor even longer of course that was after 24 hours 😂

I’ve had 2..
it sucked the first time and they had to it twice but it was my fault, I jumped as the needle was going in (stupid ass lol)
The second time, was amazing!! The doctor even typed around my sun burn for me 😅
I plan on getting it again..
I did natural. Took 32 long hours before this child of mine made his screaming appearance. The contractions were fine in the beginning just annoying like period cramps. Once you start dilating more it hurts like hell but the pushing wasnt that bad. To me peeing afterwards hurt the worst 😂
@mrsgoulding, omg lmao noooo!! They sliced me open down their but obviously numbed it cause he was stuck and I was pushin for 3 hours 😅 had so many stitches 🤦🏼♀️ makes me never wanna have a baby again
I did it natural. The contractions sucked big time but the pushing itself was okay. Pushing made the contractions feel better lol. My delivery was very fast though so idk that I can really give an opinion lol
I mean yea I felt him coming out and the pressure in my hips but no contractions ^ lol but when the baby comes out it’s like a relief

I got the epidural and I also had pain meds before they did the epidural. I didn't even feel it when they did the epidural and I slept for 3 hours after I got it.
