Emerson? Girl or boy name?

My husband and I love the name Emerson for our son. But after I looked it up I saw that is really popular in the US as a girls name. What do you think?

Anyone that like boys names for girls I wanna hear your feedback. My husband and I have a name picked out for our second daughter. If celebrities can do it then why can't we? In my opinion this name is better than James, Wyatt or Lincoln. I know I can't screen out the 'I hate that name, think of how much she will be bullied' comments but wish I could. My boyfriend is so upset that I didn’t give our son his last name but I have 4 other kids that has my last name I didn’t want to make him the only one with a different last name. Is that selfish of me? Or should he just understand. We not married
