Does your OB consider 37 weeks or 39 weeks full term? Just curious 🤷🏼♀️ mine is 37 weeks
@vanessaband18, i didn’t choose to have my son early that’s just when he came lol. I dilated within 4 hours so there was no stopping him from
Coming and he was healthy
@vvrobinson, Medicaid covered my labor and delivery with my son at 36 weeks and 5 days
@raine0415, well yeah i couldn’t stop my son from coming early i dilated from 1 to 10 in 4 hours and was fully dilated when i got to the hospital. But because he was preemie this one will more than likely come early too but I’m just hoping he’ll stay in till at least 37 weeks
@kaela3, All doctors are different on their opinion of full term so don’t worry about it.
According to Medicaid they won’t cover labor unless it is over 39 weeks or considered emergency/urgent. My doc considers 39 weeks because of that
@kaela3, I just know at 36 weeks the lungs arnt fully developed and there have been a lot of cases with breathing problems. Doctors just prefer for you to be as close to 40 weeks as possible just to be safe.
From what I understand, 36 weeks used to be considered full term at one point. But I hear both 37 and 39 weeks now. I think it really does just depend on what your doctor goes by honestly. I’m guessing because dating can be off by a couple weeks so some people’s babies born at “37 weeks” are really more developed than that. Idk I guess this is why I’m no doctor haha.
@miasmommy0218, I’m just curious because on the mom group on my fb people are like 39 weeks is full term now but every dr is different literally lol! And then one person said before 36 weeks babies are considered premature but my son was born at 36 weeks and 5 days and he is considered a premature baby because he was born before 37 weeks.
Idk I’ve never asked honestly lol. But from what I’ve heard doctors at my office will schedule inductions for 39 weeks if you ask so I guess 39.
@vanessaband18, my dr says 37 weeks . Just going off what she says lol
@raine0415, my son was born at 36 weeks and 5 days and he was healthy thank god! No nicu stay and he was 6 lbs 11 oz. my dr wants me to make it to 37 weeks with this one then he’s good to go
Mine told me 38 because that’s when there lungs are better developed. To me it’s only a week and doesn’t make a difference but around 38 weeks is when the baby is more developed and practicing breathing.

37 weeks today !! It's almost time..
I am 28 weeks and my son is already 3 pounds. I am inducing myself at 37 weeks.
Is 37 weeks considered full term?🤔
Is 37 weeks considered full term pregnancy?
My dr considers 37 weeks full term & says that the baby is ok to come anytime after 37 weeks so I’m listening to her 🤷🏼♀️
@kaela3, my son is so far in my cervix the doctors said they will be able to see his head as soon as my water breaks lol
