Incompetent what I was explained like in all your pregnancies your cervix starts shortening and jump starts preterm labor due to your muscles being weak. Like with my daughter my cervix was 1.7cm amd maintained it at that the rest of pregnancy. With this pregnancy length is 2.5cm.

@chill_blunt_friendly, yeah I only went once this week for sciatica but I cramped after it yesterday. That is something that they should check for! I just feel her head down there every now and then. Thank you!!

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

Well you might feel that pressure way more with the cerclage. Like literally you will want to not move too much lol but then again maybe not cause with my daughter I didnt feel as much pressure

Jenny

@motherof3nigerianprincesses that's good that you saw the specialist cause the primary dr woudlnt have caught the short cervix unless they knew you had a history of preterm labor or miscarriages. I was seeing a chiropractor for sciatica but I stopped to. Lol aww that's good. Prayers you have a safe pregnancy and go full term.

@chill_blunt_friendly, I feel pressure now because of her head is down there..she had a huge head lol

Shae

@chill_blunt_friendly, okay so yesterday I felt like it wasn’t right but I feel fine today. I went to the chiropractor yesterday(not going back) and started cramping after. But last night she moved so much it made me happy because you can see it lol.

@chill_blunt_friendly, thank you so much for this information! You don’t know how grateful I am! I don’t know if I would’ve found out if I didn’t randomly go to the specialist because they couldn’t get a clear ultrasound of her heart. I’m on progesterone now. And I’ll get the stitches next week. She’s 1lb 5oz right now and healthy. I just need her to stay.

With this pregnancy its the same and so far ive had regular cramping but not consistent. My cervix length is really good not too short. I did get the preventative cerclage and getting the shots. Both my OB and specialist said everyhting is looking good up to this point. But like with everything we dont have the magic key to know what will happen I cpuld still go into preterm labor or go into labor at 36 weeks when I stop everything but thats why you get monitored really good. Once a week them depending how you do every 2 weeks then once a month. Just a reminder as well if you feel like anything even the smallest thing isn't feeling right go to the Dr.

My first born she passed away cause i didnt know I was pregnant I just went into labor. But Dr had said I was around 21-25 weeks. My son whos my oldest living child was born at 25 weeks. With him I didnt find out I was pregnant till I was like 5 1/2 months pregnant and a month later I went into preterm labor. He had a nicu stay of 7 weeks with no surgeries(thank God). I did get the steroid shot with him so that helped his lung mature greatly. With my daughter I dont remember exactly when I found out I was pregnant but at 23 weeks I was already seeing a MFM specialist and got the cerclage, was put on progesterone vaginal pills and also p17/makena shots once a week. When they took out cerclage at 36 weeks and stopped all meds I still had a short cervix but I made it to 39 weeks I woudlve made it to 40 or more but my hubby was leaving to work out of town so decided to do my csection at 39 weeks.

You dont feel it at all that's for sure. You will feel a bit more pressure at times but as for the stitch itself you wont feel it or have pain cause of it.

@chill_blunt_friendly, I’m just going to do it. My mom and I were talking and we know a lot of people that had a short cervix and didn’t get it and lost their baby

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

@motherof3nigerianprincesses if I'm not mistaken its 4. Its looks similar to a circle like they put a band to close the cervix. And pull it close. Sometimes it depends on the Dr the way he/she stitches it as well.

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@chill_blunt_friendly, how many stitches is it? My mom and i were talking and we’re going to do it next week

@motherof3nigerianprincesses you're welcome

Don't*

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

The first few hours you'll have a ting bit of blood but cause of the stitches nothing like to fill a pad so form get scared if that happens.

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

@motherof3nigerianprincesses no you dont feel it. You can either get put to sleep or epidural to numb lower body. The whole procedure is fairly easy it doesnt last anymore than like 20 mins. I think all the paperwork is what takes the longest. Some drs keep you a few hours afterwards just to monitor you don't have contractions some don't. Afyer the cerclage soemtimes your hubby can feel the stitch if having sex though lol

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@chill_blunt_friendly, is there a difference between incompetent and short?

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@chill_blunt_friendly, my doctor said I can have sex. But I think we’re going to take it easy. I found out yesterday so I know it’s late in the pregnancy. And next week I’ll be 23 weeks. Does it hurt?

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

Sometimes depending on your cervix or situation dr might recommended bed rest, no sex, no lifting,no driving and limited activities. Other times you can go about your day except with restriction of carrying anything.

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

Theres 2 types of cerclage procedures.. The preventative stitch and the emergency stitch. The preventive one is done somewhere around 13-16weeks and the other one between 18-25 weeks if I'm not mistaken. With my daughter mine was done at 23 weeks cause I found out late about pregnancy with this baby I got it done at 14 weeks.

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

I have a cerclage in this pregnancy and my last. Ive gotten progesterone pills(vaginally and orally) then the p17/makena shots every week. Both are till 36 weeks. With my daughter I made it full term even after I stopped everythjng and got cerclage out. But ill be honest it doesnt work that way with everyone sometimes at the 36 week mark you can still go into labor when removing cerclage but by then you'll baby have way more chances of survival cause you also receive the steroid injections for baby.

mommyof3kiddos

Jenny

I do and I'm a high risk in all my pregnancies. I have to go to a maternal fetal medicine specialist. I ahve an incompetent cervix. So I go into preterm labor by the time I turn 20 something weeks.

@skysmommy04, lol I’m just like a ball of stress but when he told me not to stress I was like that’s not in my vocabulary. But I’m actually pretty calm right now it’s so weird. It just feels like a weight has been lifted off of me and that I know it’ll all be alright.

@motherof3nigerianprincesses, yea the stress got me good I hope all goes well for you hun update us ok 💓

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@mari_c, thank you! I know if it doesn’t look like it’s progressing then I’ll be getting the surgery next Thursday! Gotta keep her in there lol

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, he also said stressing can cause it to start trying to open. So I’m trying to relax

soul96

Marisol Gutierrez

I couldn't get the cerclage because I was too far along in both pregnancies, but the progesterone should work for you if not the surgery. I hope one of them works for you!💕

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, no I he didn’t tell me. I have an appointment next week. He didn’t say I was dilated

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, partially opened let me rephrase that

mimimommyof2

Mimi

@motherof3nigerianprincesses, yea at this point it won’t be closing are you dilated at all? How short are you? Did they tell you

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, well my cervix is opened. If it doesn’t look like it’s closing I’ll have to do it

mimimommyof2

Mimi

You’ll need more than a week for it to work and surgery is risky by this time? Did they not tell you that ?

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@mari_c,

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, I’m going to try the progesterone suppositories for a week to see if it helps. If not then I’ll have to get surgery next week

soul96

Marisol Gutierrez

I did with both of my pregnancies. I had to take progesterone and was hospitalized with my first pregnancy for about a little over a month when I was 28 weeks. This one I was on bed rest and they wanted to do the shots but didn't. I had appointments every week with a specialist.

mimimommyof2

Mimi

I’d advise going on pelvic rest which is avoiding sex

mimimommyof2

Mimi

I get makena and it helped A LOT I’m still pregnant which is a miracle but that’s the only thing bed rest doesn’t work anything like that you just have to take it easy and not over do it unfortunately

motherof3nigerianprincesses

Shae

@skysmommy04, what helped with it?

p79

p

I do

mimimommyof2

Mimi

I had it my previous pregnancy but treatment helped with this one. Are you curious about something ?
