@meetthevalentines2017, i don’t have any service in my house so calling prolly won’t work lol i have to go out on the porch to make calls. And they didn’t even really help me at the hospital with my first son they did like the first night then after that nothing 😂

@kaela3 never give up. Talk to a lactation consultant before you leave the hospital. Most of them have a number you can call them at directly if you ever have any questions.

@meetthevalentines2017, yeah i don’t plan on pumping till after he’s born but I’d like to have one on hand in case i need one... i remember how bad it hurt when my son was a few days old when they got engorged omg 😭 it was hell lol

@kaela3 yes probably. Even if you have to supplement with formula until it does cone in (in most cases colostrum is enough for them until it does) still have him latch

@kaela3 after hes born yes. Some Drs say wait a month to pump but if you're in pain and full pumping or feeding is the best relief. My daughter is too small to try and take a bottle so we just do milk baths with pumped milk.

@meetthevalentines2017, ok! My son was preemie and he dropped 11 ounces in a night because my milk still hadn’t came in and he was miserable so i gave him formula and didn’t have him latch after that so that’s prolly why my milk didn’t come in

@kaela3 but when he's born let him try and eat on his own from you once he's hungry. And just keep feeding him and your milk will come in. With my son it took only a few hours. With my daughter it took about a day. Then just keep feeding. I don't feed every 2 hours I just feed on demand which is about every 3-4 hours for about 45 minutes and she's been doing very well. She's almost gained a pound in 12 days.

@meetthevalentines2017, yeah i remember when he was like 4 days old they were rock hard but i didn’t have him latch so breastfeeding was out the door 😭 i had no help when he was born i had no idea what i was doing 🤷🏼‍♀️ i want to get a hand pump tho before he comes... i should prolly pump then once they get hard huh?

@kaela3 if they are hard and hurt your milk will probably come flying out once he latches. If you unlatch it'll probably just keep streaming out. I've gotten my kids in the face before when they've unlatched😂

@meetthevalentines2017, I mainly need to know what to do like once my boobs get hard and the milk starts to come in lol! None of my milk came in with my son so I’m like oblivious to what to do 😂😂 do I just keep having him latch even when they hurt and get hard and just hope that the milk comes out? Like i didn’t even leak or anything with my first son it’s like there was no milk in there but they got rock hard and engorged when he was a couple days old

Mine can pretty much go a whole day, (she only wanted the right side one day for some reason) without needing to pump but that's exactly what I do when they get hard and sore and start really leaking, if baby isn't with me or not hungry, I pump until it's empty if I have the time
