Sorry for the long post.. Me and my husband are having a bit of a disagreement raising our son. He works out of town and is only home once a month or once every two months. He says I’m raising a spoiled brat.. I am working my butt off to keep this house running, make sure bills are paid on time, taking care of our son and dogs and every other animal we have (basically a zoo), going to school full time online.. I told him tonight if he picked up his toys he could have skittles.. picking up toys is a hassle we fight over it every night so I tell him if he can pick up he can have a treat as a reward. Well he was really proud of himself and had to FaceTime and tell daddy so “he would be proud” and he said cool but no skittles it’s too late and of course my son got upset and said he didn’t want to talk to him anymore and my husband hangs up and texts me saying maybe I will raise him to have respect for his father instead of him being spoiled. Was I in the wrong? I have no idea how to deal with it.

😧 no. Spoiled would be if you gave him skittles even if he didn't pick up his toys. Your husband is wrong. Maybe he's upset at himself for being gone so much and is being an ass because of it?

@nomli, I’m not sure how he feels about being gone. He’s always excited to come home and then after a couple days he’s ready to leave. I’ve always tried to keep in mind his thoughts on raising children but at the end of the day I’m mommy and I’m daddy

You are not wrong. And it's easy to parent from a far where you don't have to deal with the consequences of a childs attitude. No one is a perfect parent but you're doing the best you can. I don't know how to bring it up to your husband or to talk to your toddler without undermining your husband on accident, but you know what's best. You've got this.

@hannahmiller458, yeah, you have to do what works for you. Finding things to navigate the toddler years are the only way to keep your sanity. And really, toddlers are so fickle. One day they love and respect you, the next day they hate your guts, and then back to love the following day.

@nomli, I have definitely had my share of that. He tells me every other day we aren’t friends and he doesn’t like me!

I see what ur saying. U are raising ur son all of the time. Ur doing the best that u can while he is gone. From what I read in ur post, u are doing an amazing job. I see it like this. Giving him skittles for picking up his toys is reward and he deserved it. Don’t let him get to u.

What all the other moms said lol, he honestly sounds dumb with that way of thinking! He probably couldn't do what you do in a day, in one week and keep sane! Keep your head up, plus toddlers are brats period, HE CAN BE MAD! he'll get over it, keep doing you! He can't very well dictate things, when he's hardly even there too deal with it himself, or see half of what you do and deal with... Girl brush your shoulders off, and keep going. He will live, mad or not....
