Can someone explain the membrane sweep to me plz
I got checked today and ehen i got up and walked to csr worst feeling ever hurt like hell so i was thunking did she do it n maybe not tell me somethung just didnt feel right i literally like carried my belly whole way to car and could barely walk@thegermanmommy
The bleeding is more like towards the end of a period type of bleeding. That is usually gone in a few hrs. It's not heavy bleeding
@sweetpea6 it doesn't hurt after it only hurts during.
@thegermanmommy did it hurt after and ypu bleed? Oh my i might not ask
@sweetpea6 not gonna lie to was pretty painful. Alittle more painful than being checked for dilation. Just breath thru the pain. You will also more then likely bleed. So take a pad with you. The bleeding should lighten up and be pretty much gone within a few hrs after the membrane sweep has been done.
@thegermanmommy what did it feel like when they did it and after it was done was it painful during it or after
A membrane sweep is when the doctor takes a finger and goes thru your cervix and separates the membrane that attaches the amniotic sack from the cervix. This releases hormones that can help put you into labor. I had it done with my daughter. I had my membrane sweep done on a tuesday. That Thursday I lost most of my mucus plug. That Friday my water broke and I had my daughter that saturday. I was having contractions tuesday night and all day wed. They went away Thursday during the day and came back that night.
I had a sweep on Friday at 3pm and I was admitted the next day at the 3pm & had my daughter by 8pm
I had a sweep on a Friday and that following Tuesday I went into labor. My doctor actually did another sweep while I was in labor to help.
@sweetpea6, I was scheduled for an induction on a Monday this time too. Maybe you’ll go into labor on Friday 🤞🏼
My doctor actually pulled my cervix forward this time because it was still in the back, but I was dilating. She could’ve given me a membrane sweep while in there too, I’m not sure. She did that on Tuesday and I went into labor on Friday. I’m not sure if that did it or if it was the fact that I rearranged my 4 year olds room that day by myself lol.
@ashleeg im scheduled to be induced monday have appointment friday think i can get thwm to do it and if doesnt work still induce monday
@sweetpea6, I actually ended up being induced the next week. It doesn’t work every time.
I may ask if i can have that instead of induction
@ashleeg how long until labor started
I got one with my first pregnancy. I’m pretty sure they just put their finger in the cervix opening move it around to separate the sac from your cervix. The separation releases a hormone that can start labor. Hopefully all of that is right lol. It’s a little uncomfortable.
They basically stick their fingers in ya cooch and just strip your membranes. At least that's what I think it is and then you lose your mucus plug shortly after. I could be incorrect though
I got my membranes swept and I bled and about an hour later my water broke when I got up to go to the bathroom. But I was already at the hospital in the process of being induced so that may have played into it. I was induced at 39 weeks because my blood pressure got too high
