We don't have a fenced yard for our dog but we have her on a runner. If nice out, I put her out there for a few hours at a time.

I do this when the baby was napping or in her swing. Now that she's 13 months, I have a gated play area for her. I put her in there and let the dog out. No big deal. The dog we got when the baby was 5 months old and a puppy. We went through dog training and everything with an infant no problem! Now we're expecting baby number 2 in 6 ish weeks! I'm a crazy mama for all this chaos but wouldn't change a thing

@gracelynnsmama, ugh. we have a run too but unfortunately we only have one and we have 4 dogs. and our youngest is a puppy and he’s 90 pounds. they’re too big for a play area outside. if he doesn’t run around and get his energy out he will destroy the entire house. which is another problem I have

@taylorg, totally understand. We have a 65lb shepherd. I can only put her out on the runner. But when my husband gets home from work he takes her for a walk. We live in walking distance of a walking trail which is great. In the nice whether, i take the baby in the stroller too!

@gracelynnsmama, ugh. this is why I wish we only had my one dog. across the street from my house is a huge field and there’s a dog walking trail too. I take my dog every day but he only weighs 12 pounds and he’s so easy. The last time I tried to take the 90 pound dog, I ended up hysterically crying because he was pulling me so hard and wasn’t listening. So untrained in every aspect. idk what to do

I have 2 dogs and my son and another one on the way. My one dog is 76 lbs and just turned 2 and the other one is smaller and 6 yrs old.. they have leads outside but we only use one of them. My son is good at staying out of the way when i let them out but i feel like it’s gonna be so over whelming for me once the baby is here because sometimes the dogs don’t get a long 😩 and on top of that my son and an infant ! Kind of nervous.

@kaela3, ugh yup. and just to have to put a dog on a lead is a pain in the butt. would be so much easier if I could open the door and let them run in a fenced in yard. then I can let them out and let them run for hours and get their energy out. instead I have to stand out there in the freezing cold and make sure they don’t run away. and of course they don’t listen i’m literally screaming at them all day long. can’t be good for the baby in my belly but what else am I supposed to do

@taylorg, yeah my younger dog listens but the older one i have to yell at her like 5 times cause my other dog is patiently waiting to go outside lol. It’s real annoying when they wrap the chain around the tree then i actually have to go outside to let them in and out 🙄 cause it reaches inside the door when there not morons and wrap it around the tree or under the porch

@kaela3, HAHA SAME. The dog that we put on the lead always wraps herself around the tree. then I have to go all the way to the back and unwrap her just for her to do it again next time she goes outside 😐
