How many ounces does a six week old baby drink? I usually breast-feed him so I don’t exactly know how many he’s getting. But I want to try supplementing. How many ounces of milk should I give him?

Well my four month old will drink four when he has a bottle so I'd say two ounces

Why are you trying to supplement?

@carrsonsmommy, Because he doesn’t seem to get full from breast-feeding. I literally breast-feed him for an hour sometimes more. He ends up falling asleep in my bed because we breast-feed so much at night. I would just feel more comfortable supplementing. I tried similac today and one bottle got him really tired and happy. He seemed to get full off of it

@virgomama94, have you tried pumping breastmilk and giving him a bottle? Normally if they are still having plenty of wet diapers they are getting enough.

@carrsonsmommy, this is my third kid lol I have an idea of how it works now. And yes I pump too but I usually only get 2 oz at a time and he always seems hungry afterwards and wants boob again. I just want to supplement because it would help us both out. Sometimes my nipples just need a break lol

My 7 week old drinks 3-4oz. Usually just 3 but sometimes she obviously feels like a little more.

If you’re only pumping 2oz out of each boob that means he’s getting about 4oz total, yet again you don’t pump out as much as what milk comes out when you nurse so there’s not a for sure way of knowing.. 4oz is normally what babies drink out of formula but formula is more filling, if you have to supplement try only 2oz after Breast feeding. Best of luck to you ❤️ don’t lose that supply !!
