Drama Inducing Post....
Why tf do people get induced before an EDD?? Like omg my baby isn't growing fast enough, so let's kick him out of the womb that he is clearly not ready to leave... like omg I'm 37 weeks... baby still technically has 3 more weeks to grow and prepare before they are fully done growing, but eh I'm over this and they can come now... like no!
Babies take 40 Weeks.... 9 months.... not 8 and a half months.... if baby comes at 37 weeks on their own, that's one thing.. but just because you're 37 weeks doesn't mean baby HAS to come out.... jesus!

I think doctors tend to be more cautious in order to avoid any malpractice suits if something was really wrong and they didn't act quickly enough. I had an NST at 36 weeks because his heartbeat was elevated, and I was totally cool with extra checks to make sure he was okay. But to okay inductions for no reason is super dumb.

My daughter had to come at 34 weeks. She had restricted growth and then cord blood reversed. If they didn't catch that at my ultrasound at 33 weeks; she wouldn't have been here with us today. A year later, she's a typical 13 month old. Tall like her daddy. You'd never know she was a preemie unless you knew her story. All milestones are with her age as well!

Yes! I was induce at 40 weeks my doctor would not do nothing sooner unless something would have been wrong. All that happens was I gave birth to a 10lb baby. I was very uncomfortable & I would joking say I wish I was 40 weeks so I can have this baby or come sooner.

@nomli They do. They also give mom's unnecessary reasons to worry... With my first, at 32 weeks they told me they needed to tie my cervix because it was too short... But it wasnt.. they also said I needed a non stress test because my baby had one kidney bigger than the other...
Um no. There is nothing they could possibly do about that until after birth, and my cervix was 1.7cm. It's fine unless it's under 1.5... Your cervix/the mucus plug can grow back.. like put me on bed rest for a week and check it again.. don't try to tell me the only way to fix it is an option that will interfere with my birth choices.

Do doctors actually induce early just because the mom wants it? I thought they only did it if there was a medical reason. Any doctor who agrees to induce early for no reason shouldn't be a doctor. My sister would've been induced at 39 weeks, since for her the risk of stillborn was super high after week 39, but she wound up in labor on her own two days before.

@eaj8290 Like for me personally, my first was born the day before my due date and she was perfect and healthy..
And my second was born 4 days before my due date, and she was small. But other than that everything was perfect. If I had induced at 37 weeks just because I couldn't wait, she might not have been ready.

Yup. I understand what you mean, I just want to throw in there that this doesn't apply to women who have extenuating circumstances.

@eaj8290 And I do totally understand that there are certain situations where it's completely necessary... But I'm just referring to people that do it because they can't wait another 3 weeks... That 3 weeks can make such a big difference in the babies health.

@rose135975 I don't either. Especially since dating can be up to 2 weeks wrong. But everyone's situation is different.

@eaj8290 c-sections are different.. I would never willingly choose that as a first option.. that's my last resort..
Being induced early is more often the moms decision. I just don't get why so many people choose to interfere with the natural order of things without it being necessary.

@owlylove4 school is literally the last thing I think of when planning to give birth 😂😂. Honestly my only preference is to not be huge in the middle of summer. SO I always try to get pregnant in months that will avoid that.

@ilovemyfam it's almost like they had no idea what they were getting themselves into... like do some research... Doctors do not always know what's best... you need to be able to stand up for you and your baby and what is best for both of you...

If the baby isn't growing enough it means they aren't getting the necessary nutrients from the placenta and can cause a stillbirth. Csections are typically scheduled before EDD because going into labor naturally can be life threatening for both the baby and people like me.
