Is It Normal for My Baby to Spit Up More After Feeding?
I was feeding my son, but he fell asleep and wouldn't wake up. He had only eaten for like 5 minutes so I unswaddled him and tried burping him to wake him up. He woke up, but wouldn't burp so I was just holding him, propped up, when he suddenly let out a huge burp and threw up like an entire ounce of breast milk.
It's like he keeps throwing up more and more fluid each time he spits up, is that normal? Could he be eating too fast? Is there anything I can do besides propping him up to try and help? It worries me so much. 😖

Does he have acid reflux? That happened with my son a lot and turned out that’s what the problem was, I hope that’s not what it is because it’s really rough on the little babies!! 😕

I'm not sure, I was wondering if that might be it. He doesn't cry or fuss when he spits up, but it's been happening more and more over the past couple of days and the amount is increasing everytime. Is there a way to tell if it's acid reflux or do I have to take him to his doctor?

Yeah that kinda sounds like acid reflux, my oldest had it.

@damiensmommy1117, with my son he cried a lot and would arch his back during and after feedings, he also always had his little fists balled up a lot and the doctor said it was due to discomfort and his breath always smelled sour no matter how clean I kept his mouth... he only spit up a few times in the beginning and after that it was just a lot of crying and discomfort especially at night, his doctor said he had what was called “silent acid reflux” since he didn’t vomit much with it.. he ended up having to go on medicine because it was so bad! If I was you I would take him to his doctor and bring it up with them just to be sure, I really hope that’s not what’s going on with him 🤞🏻

It could be a sensitivity to dairy as well. My daughter had the same issue with acid reflux but since I stopped eating/drinking anything dairy it’s almost completely stopped. I would definitely go to the doctor though before you try anything

I did eat an entire tub of ice cream the day before this started! I don't drink milk so I'll stop eating dairy for a while and see if it helps. I'm gonna call his doctor on Monday as well.

@damiensmommy1117 it takes 2 weeks for dairy to get out of your system! So you might not see results right away

Haha ice cream sounds awesome right now! I’ve been dairy free for about two months. Cutting out dairy sucks more so for moms, not the babies. My daughter almost completely stopped spitting up once I quit. You can try almond milk instead of regular milk as a substitute too because it has a lot of protein and it’s healthier then regular milk anyways. We also used a rock and play when she was a newborn, it helped a ton because she slept at an angle in the rock and play. When we laid her flat in the crib she would puke everything she just ate right up. Definitely try the no dairy over the weekend and see if there’s a difference, it won’t hurt to try! Hopefully there’s some way to help your son feel better:)
