So ladies, I have a question.... Do you think it cool for a grandparent to charge to keep their grandchild?
If it's just every once in a while no but if they are your primary care giver to your child while you work every day then yes just like any other child care person. I'm not saying the same rate as child care facilities but like $5 an hour isn't bad. My sister pays me $5 an hour and trust me that's not near enough to put up with her child's shit all day long. But that's my niece so I accept the $5 an hour because it's better than not being able to pay my bills
Yes and once i have grandchildren better believe I will be charging.
Absolutely not. My grandparents didnt charge my mum for every time she dropped us off over there, which was frequently, so I'll be damned if my mum thinks she's going to charge me. I don't ask her to provide anything my kids need though. I make sure there is enough diapers, food or formula, toys, ect. If they every stayed more than one night I might provide money for my children to go and do something with the grandparents but I'm not ever going to pay my mum to sit her grandchildren.
@parismommmy, i agree I’m just not going to do it when my kids have kids i just feel like i should spend time with them the money shouldn’t matter.
No I think a grandparent shouldn’t charge you. Sure any other family or friends can say they want money but a grandparent I think that’s being over the top
Yes I do. It is a job and it is hard. I pay anyone who watches my kids some kind of way
@mommysbabies, yeah when my kids have kids i wouldn’t charge that’s my grandbabies money don’t come before them.
@lovemyson215, yeah i can understand that.
I don't think so. I started a seasonal job thats only going to last until christmas eve and my mom insists I'm going to pay her money for babysitting. But I'm not lol. I cook for her everynight so I feel that's enough lol
My mom would never and neither would my inlaws but we always have snacks and that for my son
Depends. One time thing? I wouldn't mind paying my mom to sit actually. Maybe she'd do it more 😂
In my opinion I think it depends on how often and how long they’re keeping them.
@tuttsmommy, tbh no, it’s their grandkid.. you don’t have to let them go there, so why would you pay them to watch them. They aren’t a babysitter. But they get the chance to hang with their grandkid(s)... but I believe to give them money if they are staying more than a day or an hour.. so they can get diapers, wipes or food when they run out.
