I was reading about a debate on letting your child cry it out. What are your thoughts? Why do u or don't you do this method? I personally don't unless im unable to get to her. Like if im driving but even then if it sounds like she's in pain I'll pull over lol

I do it . Just because I think if you jump to them every time they cry they think you have to do it all the time and that’s what they become prone to.

I did it w my daughter when she was 7/8months because all she ever wanted to do was be rocked to sleep, after i had my back injury i had to let it cry i rly had no other choice since my husband wasnt home to put her to bed. It worked wonders but it was hard.. i will probobly do the sane w my son.

There's actual scientific evidence on how it's damaging to the child's mind and development, we do not do it.

We starting doing it around 8/9 months as well. I’ve learned certain cries are more important. But if he is crying and I’ve changed him, fed him and decided whether or not to give him Motrin (he’s teething) then sometimes I let him just cry because even me holding him isn’t enough.

He never has given us problems though, he’s great at self soothing since he was an infant, now he just cries when he’s overly tired and it’s bed time - but even then it’s for like three minutes and then he passes out.

Oh please. If you have tried everything else and nothing is working than cry it out is your only option. As to the lady who said it’s damaging to the child....well every thing now days is consider damaging to a child! There is nothing wrong with letting a baby cry it out. There’s a method to it. You don’t just leave the baby alone and not check in on him. You start out with small lengths at a time. Leave for a 2 minutes, then check on baby. Leave again and come back in 3, then 5, then 10. Whatever times your comfortable with.

Crying it out is actually good for a child, it makes their lungs stronger first of all, and secondly babies eventually need to learn how to self soothe, if they are fed, changed, and comfortable and they are still crying, there's nothing left to do. It is not neglecting them, and it's not making them feel like they can't trust you. My son used cry it out now and then, I would never let him go too long without checking on him but even when I did I still let him cry. It was hard because I felt helpless but eventually he'd stop. It never did any "damage" to his "mind and development". He's super smart and developing just fine.
