I think you know what you want more than anyone. If you're ready to not have anymore kids I say go for it. If you have a partner you should talk to them about it too just in case to avoid conflicts

@nickee thanks but I was just asking in general because I see so many people think its wrong to get your tubes tied so I just wanted to see what others might have to say on the subject

@terresa.nash I think that's because most of the women who say they want to tie their tubes are young girls who have not had any kids yet. I dont want to be that person who says girls don't know what they want but if you've never been a mother how do you know for sure you'll NEVER want to be? I also used to say I never wanted kids and I was CERTAIN I didnt and now I have one and am wanting another lol

@nickee yeah a lot of girls change their mind but you live and you learn

Yeah I think you wouldn't know that true answer until you've had kids.

There's nothing wrong with a young woman who doesn't want kids. It is unfortunate that most insurances won't pay for a woman to get her tubes tied if she doesn't have children. Most plans require you to have at least 2 children before they will cover it. I think it should be a woman's choice. Period.

I feel your right but being a mother doesn't have to be given birth you can be a mom to a kid who needs a family

I don't. Some people know what they want. I've ALWAYS wanted kids, but I also know some who never have. I know some women who are in their 50s/60s who still don't have children and are happy that way. Kids aren't for everyone. I also don't think it should be up to others to dictate when we can tie our tubes or whether or not we can or can't. I know of someone with a medical condition where pregnancy would basically kill her and her doctor still won't tie her tubes. I also have a friend who has 3 kids and wants no more, but they still won't. Lastly, I know one woman who wants to tie hers, but no doctor will because her long time boyfriend won't approve. She already has 2 children. At the end of the day, if I or anybody else wants a medical procedure, I feel that should strictly be up to the patient and the doctor. I do feel you should discuss this with your partner of course, but it shouldn't be denied solely because your partner doesn't want it to happen. But yeah, motherhood isn't for everyone. 🤷🏽♀️

@breloya I agree motherhood is not for everyone

I was thirty when I had my oldest, and a single mom. I asked my doctor to tie my tubes then, and he refused. He was right to do so. I never expected to find love or the desire for another child. I mean, come on, I wasn't getting any younger. But I did, and I wouldn't change anything. Now my tubes are tied, and sometimes I wish that we could try for another; but this is for the best now that we are in our forties.

I've talked to a lot of people who have done it and they all say don't. There was something about knowing they had closed the door on that that made them regret it. A lot of them said they were 100% positive they were done having kids but once they lost the option to have them it changed them. They all say never to do it.
