@asandovaln thank you for your input. Nice to get a reply from someone that actually has two last names

@lacyd.mommy2b Right! I didn't want to do the legal stuff either but my ex/bd couldn't stand that he couldn't control me, so we are going through the ringer. It's sad but I am doing what is best for our daughter. I found out some scary stuff about him and it explains alot of why we weren't together. I wish you the best and the decision is totally up to you!

@noturprops yea I've decided that I won't be doing anything in court if he decides do dismiss himself from our lives. I don't want to deal with legal stuff. I'll either be with him and him help that way or I'd rather do it on my own. The only reason I think I'd want to change it is if I got married an in that case she could be adopted by my new so

@asandovaln how's the layout of your name? Hyphen or just one last name following the next?

@lacyd.mommy2b I know some info about the name change. I'm in FL, so if I were to give her his last name and later wanted it changed, I'd have to get permission from him, which to spite me, he wouldn't give permission. Now, that's because we have an open court case established. If there isn't one, it may not be too challenging.

@lacyd.mommy2b, I actually love having both last names :) I was never made fun of for it. & hubby wants me to change my last name to his when we get married but I said no Since my dad was never really in my life his last name is really the only thing I have from him.. & I don’t want to lose that

@asandovaln yea my bf made the comment saying she's gonna sound like she's already been married an divorced as a kid then when she does get married she will have 3 last names... How did you feel growing up with two last names? Were you made fun of or did u feel confused?

Giving her both would give her the option to use one more than the other when she’s older.. both my brother & I have both my dads & moms last name (dad hasn’t been in our lives since I was 2yo) my brother only uses my moms & I still use both sometimes just my dads but on everything like paperwork/doctors/id they use both

@lacyd.mommy2b I am actually a newlywed and find so much peace in her having my maiden name. My decision was easier because I was teased for my last name too in school but in more of a good way, people liked it, her last name with my babydaddy's would have been pronounced A-ho, I'm not comfortable with a little girl bearing that last name. Plus she had a cousin on his side that has that last name, who is 4 and they make her mis-pronounce the last name . Sad, really. You just have to do what is best for your child.

@hazelnautumnsmomma125 what kind of issues are there on changing the name afterwards? See these are all things I'm taking into consideration. I'm not wanting to be hateful in any way. I don't wanna be like well I hate him so I don't want her to have his name.. Not that I'd ever hate him, but I see it a very good chance that we split up and it just be me an baby girl

We don't have a healthy relationship

. We are together now, but I don't think we will last forever. If it was up to my family they would ship him to another country and raise her themselves. I like his last name better than I do mine. I was made fun of alot as a kid. I don't want to be that baby Momma that says the kid can't have his name being hateful either. I'm just honestly at a loss on how to handle it. I want to have the same name as her, but I also realize I may get married later to someone else. My boyfriend thinks I'm being dumb an just need to give her his name.

Only thing I'll say about the last name is that my sister gave her son the fathers last name and he ended up screwing her over and they broke up and have no contact. He gave up his rights and pays child support. But now its a pain to get it changed back to her last name. So I would really consider everything before giving her the fathers last name. But that is totally up to you☺

Let me ask you this on the last name, do you and babydaddy have a good relationship? Do you like babydaddy's last name? I was in a scenario where I wasn't with my babydaddy, he wasn't there for me the whole pregnancy except to tell me how much he wishes our daughter would have been a boy and to harass me, put me down and abuse the power of communication. PLUS, his last name pronounced is a name that my daughter would be made fun of A LOT! I gave her mine.
