Early bedtime tonight. Isabelle has been a hot mess ALL DAY. I’m really not sure what’s going on with her but I’m not having it. 🙃 Absolute meltdowns over EVERYTHING. She asks for milk, I give her milk, she throws it and starts screaming. She asks for Elmo, I turn on Elmo, she freaks out and screams, “NO!” So I turn it off, and guess what she does 🙂🙂🙂
Like, there’s gotta be a limit. I’m not one for physical discipline but David popped her on the butt and I feel weird about it. Like, obviously I don’t want her acting like this, but is there not a better way to get the point across to her?? She’s not even 18mos old, I’m not quite sure she really understands.

I personally don't think it's appropriate at her age because she is so little and she doesn't know how to express her emotions yet. Her little hormones go crazy sometimes trying to figure themselves out too and her little brain can't figure out how to handle it.

Where I live spanking your child (popping whatever you want to call it) is called corporal punishment and is regarded as child abuse. Cps makes you take a set of 12 parenting classes if they find out you spank your kids. What you're supposed to do is to do time outs in a neutral calm area for one minute per each year or the child's age so your child would be one minute. You need warnings for behavior "if you keep act like this(be specific about the behavior when talking to the child) then you don't get to have fun" and take away privileges until she can earn them back. There are healthy ways of correcting a child's undesired behaviors.

When my daughter was that age if she got into something she wasn't suppose to I would smack her hand and sternly tell her no! When your daughter acts this way don't give her what she wants. When she threw her milk I would have picked it up, poured it down the drain in front of her and tell her no very sternly and if she cries she cries! Just express to her no we don't act this way and if she cries, let her!
