The way I see it is he is the father. The child should have his last name whether or not y’all stay together. It’s what’s right.

@damn.it.red, I think this as well to an extent. If he’s a dead beat pos then he should have your last name. If y’all are together, and/or he is an involved father, the baby should have his last name. IF y’all break up and he becomes an uninvolved father, you can always change his/her name.

@brownsugarluv, because she thinks that if we break up and he decides to not do his part and leave our lives that I’m going to regret having the baby have his last name or if I were to meet someone else down the line and marry that person and have more kids with the other person that it wouldn’t be fair to my current baby to have a different last name 🙄

I agree with @damn.it.red, and it's also what I'm doing... even though my SO and I will most likely get married in a couple of years. Our little boy will take his last name. He's played a huge part in my pregnancy and is also the reason I haven't strangled anyone yet. 😂😅😂

Your the one that fills out the birth certificate, it's your choice. Tell your mom to shut it. You could name the baby purple tree and she couldn't say anything lol do what you want

I have my daughter her father's and mine last name. They don't even have to write both last names if they don't (my bf has 2 last names and only uses one) to me it sounds like royalty lol to have a long name but do what you want cause it's your life and your baby no one had a day in that. I have both my dad & moms last name hyphenated & I’ve never had a problem with it. My dad hasn’t been in my life since I’ve been 3yo but I still use his last name :) I’m also planning on giving my daughter both mine & hubbys last name :)

I gave my 7 yr old his fathers last name. We are not together. I don't regret him having his dad's last name.

I should add, I am with my youngest twos father. They have his last name.
