I’m thinking of throwing in the towel with breastfeeding. I️ feel so awful remembering my beautiful boy’s little eyes looking at me when he successfully latched the day he was born. And how beautiful the bonding experience was in our skin to skin feeding sessions but here I️ am 10 days later and I’ve went from breastfeeding to breast pumping and the physical pain is just a tiny bit less than breastfeeding. I️ feel so sleepy after pumping and drained and achy and sore and like if it’s consuming all my day and energy and taking away quality time with my baby boy. I️ have my support system (husband, my parents, my doctors and the baby’s doctors, nurses) telling me to keep trying as if formula feeding is a death sentence. But I’m feeling I️ can’t take much more of pumping but also can’t take the guilt of what a failure I️ would be if I️ formula fed. Is there anyone out there who shares this feeling?

I did. I struggled a lot. I did use a little bit of formula and still do every now and then. There is nothing wrong with formula. Most people will push for you to breastfeed because of all the good it does for your child and it also creates a great and strong bond with you and your child.

Its very tiring and time consuming especially the first month but i gets easier. The pain gets easier. Pumping this early for most moms can cause issues like mastis, oversupply etc. I have wanted to throw in the towel as well especially after finding out i had to do a no dairy free milk diet which i was fine with cuz i had started to drink almond milk but come to find out a lot of things are milk based product like peanuts/trailmix, stuffing, nuggets. Its so hard to even go out with the family and just order food cuz i have to ask the waitor for a list of ingredients in anything I'm interested in eating. I push through cuz i know how beneficial it is and its free lol. The antibotis are awesome. I witnessed it clear a pink eye within 1 day and clear up a diaper rash within 1 hour. I do understand though wanting to switch.

I still breastfeed and pump when I need to and keep formula on hand for every now and then.

@jskidsmom, thank you for your advice. oh wow! Diaper rash? Did you accomplish this by just breastfeeding or applying the milk to the rash? My little one is suffering from a diaper rash at the moment also.

@kaytibug2009, I️ know it’s super beneficial! I️ guess it’s just an adjustment period.

@nirvanachic_94 it is a very big adjustment. But you do need to know that in the end if you do keep breastfeeding then it will get easier and it will be better for the both of you. Breastfeeding not only helps the baby but it also helps you. It will promote peace and calmness when the baby is feeding and gives you time to relax.
