Im making a pot of beans tonight for the first time does anyone have any tips?

No tips, but you will do great!

Let them soak in water for a few hours then rinse before you start cooking them. It removes the starchiness of the beans

And make sure to go through them and pick out the bad ones. (( If you're making them from scratch ))

I always add bacon to mine and I cook them until they boil them turn them down to a simmer

There's a quick soak to where you blow them let them sit an hour then rinse and cook I use ham hock or bacon in mine

Or hamburger meat and add chili powder and onion chili beans

I used smoked turkey leg in mine. I cook it in chicken broth for flavor and slow cook

I always use 2 small cans of beef broth added to the water and cook them in a crock for a few hours after doing a quick soak. I either add pork or pieces of bacon I briefly pan fried. When I make cornbread with it I add a couple tablespoons of vanilla pudding to it. Makes it sweet and moist.

You put them in a pot let them come to a boil turn off cover and soak for a hour

But water past the beans throw in two halves of garlic add salt and let them cook for about two hours.

Put them in a pot bring to boil after they boil turn off cover and let soak for an hour after the hour pour the water out and rinse the beans now they ate ready to cook that's the quickest soak method...... They will take a hour to hour and half to cook after the quick soak

@bunny713, on the back of the bag is a quick soak guide. I sometimes am in a hurry so I rinse them, pick out the bad ones and throw them right in. It just takes longer to cook.
