Do women usually start their epidural after getting pitocin?
@snb1121 They I'll be on a constant epidural drip until delivery is complete. So it shouldn't wear off.... in theory lmao
I would ask for the epidural first... pitocin contractions are intense... but i guess it depends on how dialated you are because if you get the epidural too soon it wears off by the time tou have to push..
@mminor90 yes. A small shot first. Stings for a second and then you can only feel pressure.
I did once I hit 6 cm after pitocin. I was having contractions that ran into each other. One was ending and another was coming in at full force. By then they were able to stop the pitocin and I had natural contractions but they didn't slow any so I got one.
@eaj8290 They messed up my IV 4 times before they found a vein. Then the lab tech had to find her own vein to draw blood. I've been a Human pin cushion lol
I know they use a small shot to numb the area forst correct ?
I got to the hospital and was 5 centimeters dilated already. I asked for it at 6 because I couldn’t take it. Honestly if the person doing it knows what he or she is doing it isn’t as scary as some people think. It’s pretty quick. I’m having my second soon and will hold the pain as long as I can but will probably get another epidural. Just afterwards the back pain is terrible but worth it.
I did 36 hours of pitocin before my epidural
