Is it wrong of me to not have my mom in the room when it’s time to deliver? I know it’s a common/traditional thing, but my mom is so dramatic and makes everything about herself and loves creating scenes. I also have never felt close to my mom and do feel that having her there will make me feel uncomfortable. I just want that day to be a sweet, unforgettable moment for me and the baby’s father, but I don’t want to be bashed for not having her there because it’s what I’m “supposed to do”.

That day is all about you and your baby. The more stressed out you are the longer it'll take for the little one to come out. If you don't want her in the room then she doesn't need to be there

You're supposed to feel comfortable. If having your mother there makes you uncomfortable, you're not doing what you're supposed to do.

No way! It was just my hubby and I when my daughter was born. I let me mom come right after, but she was not in the room when I delivered. It's totally okay.

Nope!! I had only my husband. And that's the way I'll have it for every baby I have. There is so much going on you don't want to be worrying about other people. Do what you want!

You're not wrong at all! I'm not having any of my family at the hospital period... it's just going to be me and my SO. Do what you want, and what you think is best for you!

Your not wrong, it's your moment an that's something you should enjoy an she should be understanding of that

Hi. And I'm sorry to hear this about your mom. But if she's like that then don't have her there. I came supper close to not having my mom there with me. And I definitely didn t let her in there when I had my c-section. So, in my opinion, don't do it. And don't let anyone make you feel bad. It's your moment and your babies daddy and your baby's day. Prayers ad I hope it works out for you. Please let me know how it goes. Prayers 😇😇😇

It’s completely your choice. You need to be able to relax and focus on yourself and your baby when you’re in labor. If you feel like you aren’t able to with her being in the room then you have the right to say she can’t be in there. Obviously you have to put it in a nice way, but I️ completely understand. I️ don’t want my mom in the delivery room either because I’m nervous she’ll make me stressed out. As much as I️ love her I️ don’t know if I’ll be able to handle it in that moment

It’s your birth. I’m in the same boat myself and I’m choosing to not have anyone in the room. It’ll be less stressful. And she’ll only be upset for the time being not a lifetime

Only my husband. Then I ended up with an emergency c section but induction was only us. My husband did call my parents to let them know what was going on when things changed because both baby and I had complications.

Thanks everyone so much! It’s great to know I’m not wrong for feeling this way or alone. I tried talking to her about it and explaining to her why I don’t want anyone there and how it’s my moment and I want it to be as comfortable, stress/drama free and peaceful as possible and her response was literally “I’m the grandmother, bitch that’s my fucking moment.....MINE” 😡 so with that being said, my decision is final!!

I'm not laughing at you. I'm not laughing at the situation.
But hand to freaking God, let someone tell me giving birth is "their" moment. They will be the last person to ever meet my baby. You're a better person than I. I cut people off like I'm Edward Scissorhands

Oh hell no! If my MIL said some shit like that I would cut her off so hard! I'm sorry, is she the one growing a human inside of her?! NO! You are! That's your baby and your moment/experience of giving birth to another life! You're gonna need all the time you can get to recover from labor as well as bond with your baby. Have your family visit you after you're out of the hospital and settled in at home that way it's less stressful and you're in the comfort of your own home instead of a crampy hospital room.

That's your moment and no else's. My mil wanted to be at the hospital. We didn't even tell her til after the baby was born. Somehow she never suspected something. At the time, we lived in the same apartment community. One car was still there and I was on bed rest; never suspected a thing. And one of our friends stayed at our place to take care of the animals. But having a baby 6 weeks early... would you suspect anything!
We had visitors come a few days after so I could recover and us see the baby since she was in the NICU.
