Okay so I’ve been trying to naturally induce labor , been having problems with my pelvis and I can’t hardly walk . Im two weeks ahead of what my midwife originally thought i was and my uterus is measuring 41 weeks . My baby is to term , I heard about Castor oil and tried it yesterday . I had a teaspoon at 9am then another at 12:30pm then another at 5:45pm . I also walked a bunch . It gave me Braxton Hicks for about 4 hours and some mild back pain and then that was it , it didnt even make me go to the potty .. its been over 24 hours and nothing else has happened . I just read about a midwifes brew ? It calls for

2 tablespoons of almond butter
2 tablespoons of castor oil
250 ml of lemon verbana tea
300 ml of apricot juice

I’m gonna try it this afternoon i read that it had an 85% success rate . I was just curious though , if the castor oil didn’t work for me yesterday will the midwifes brew not work for me as well ? Has anyone tried castor oil and it not work and then had the midwifes brew work for them ?

I'm afraid of the same thing cause when I took it straight it didn't work... If the brew works for you please let me know I would really like to try it if it does make a difference.

Caster oil isn't safe because it's a laxative. It can cause the baby to poop in the amniotic fluid and inhale the fecal matter. Which can lead to hospitalization or death if it isn't caught right away. There was a mom on here that lost her baby from caster oil. Everyone told her it was safe, it's something they used a long time ago. I wouldn't even take the risk.

@familyislife121417, The midwifes brew has Castor oil in it as well so I was thinking it wouldn’t work for me because the plain castor oil didn’t work for me BUT everyone is different and my moms friend took castor oil and nothing but try the brew and BAM was in labor ! Lol could have been a coincidence but im gonna try ! My Cervix are soft and been dilated to 2! To everyone saying the castor oil isn’t safe , if you don’t stay hydrated your right it isn’t safe ! Or if your not dilated and you take it and it causes you to go into labor then yes it isn’t safe ! But I called my midwife and she said my body is starting to get ready for my baby to come so as long as i stayed hydrated, it couldn’t hurt me , that at most it might just give me the runs which it didn’t lol ! As far as the whole making the baby poo while still unborn my midwife said thats more for the women who are over due and that i will be fine but thankyou all for the advice!

@alyssakay I just tried the castor oil yesterday as well and it didn't work for me... I was told that if your body is professing good that the brew or castor oil will work (like if your dilated) but I found out after I had taken the castor oil that I wasn't dilated so I wished I hadn't taken it... so after hearing that I hit the state of mind were I've pretty much given up.. cause I've tried everything.. If you do try the brew please let me know how it works cause I'd love to have some hope to not be medically induced

Castor oil is extremely dangerous, but it’s too late now. Just don’t take anymore. It could seriously hurt you and baby. Good luck.

Just be careful with castor oil while it might not make you go to the bathroom, it can cause the baby to poop and ingest in putting themselves in danger.
