My OB told me my iron levels are 13.8 so my iron is good.. She told me to continue my prenatal vitamins and to start taking fish oil supplements because I cannot eat fish for the life of me. My question is, do I need to take iron supplements? I didn't ask her because I was stunned when she told me I'm not immune to chicken meaning I never had them when all my life I thought I did😅😅😅😅
@candacelouise13 I wouldn't take it without her consent but I side tracked and didn't ask because I had to take them for my 1st 2.. Just curious if 13.8 was high enough to not take any..
13.8 is not low. Your doctor will let you know if it is low. Too much iron is a bad thing to. Don’t take it if you don’t need the extra.
@mommybug, yeah I’d they it’s okay for now don’t start any. May get lower as you get further along and they will call in an iron supplement for you.
@tasticmel have you ever been told to take fish oil supplements? This is the 1st I've been told this
@candacelouise13 I ask because with my 1st two pregnancies I was taking Iron as well.. So I wasn't sure.
If your iron levels are good then no you don’t need to take iron supplements
@candacelouise13, not necessarily. I have a severe iron deficiency and I get iron infusions every few weeks on top of preNatals. Sometimes your body doesn't absorb iron from the iron rich foods you consume
@mommybug, the prenatal vitamins I buy also comes with a bottle of fish oil so I take it as well.
